·       Web Release QUEENS, N.Y. (Aug. 13, 2021) – One of the most prolific talents in the long and storied history of St. John’s Basketball, Zendon Hamilton is coming home to join the Red Storm coaching staff.   The seventh-leading scorer and fourth-leading rebounder in St. John’s history will serve as the program’s coordinator of basketball operations.  In this role, Hamilton will assist in all facets of the Red Storm’s day-to-day doings while playing a significant role in both alumni and community relations. “We are excited to welcome Zendon back to St. John’s as a member of our basketball staff,” said Head Coach Mike Anderson. “Zendon was an outstanding player who has always been a great ambassador for our University. His experience at the collegiate and professional levels and knowledge of St. John’s will undoubtedly benefit our program.” Hamilton, who played six seasons in the NBA, becomes the second member of the Red Storm staff to boast an NBA pedigree.  Special Assistant to the Head Coach Paul Pressey played 11 seasons in the league from 1982-1993.

“It feels so good to be home and to be a part of this family that has such a storied tradition because of all of the great players and coaches over the years,” said Hamilton. “I want to thank Coach Anderson and Mike Cragg for this opportunity to come back home and continue to be a part of this great St. John’s Basketball program.”

That’s great! Love seeing the connections building. Once again, feels like CMA is playing all the right cards.

I don't think that just having him on the staff can kill the assist numbers so ... Welcome back Zendon!

Love this.  Zendon is one of my all-time favorites.  Averaged nearly a double double for his career (yeah not too many assists).  One of our greats, so welcome back.

So we have Tarik broadcasting with SJU for years.

Zendon is now part of the staff.

The only thing missing from the recruiting class of '94 is Felipe. That guy has more energy and optimism and decency and love for SJU. Get him on the university's development team, and he'd be shaking dollars loose from every alum.

This seems like the type of role that Marcus Hatten was angling to get into. Maybe he could do something like this in the future.

Yea I took a look at his Twitter recently lol, he definitely could use some sort of guidance on how to run his account. It's not creating the best impression of him

Yeah, he spent a year with a title like Keady or Pressey but not as influential.  More like job training shortly after his playing career ended.  Maybe Lavin's last year?

Edit:  As I recall now I believe it was an unpaid position.  Probably after his first coaching stint in the D League which only last a year.

Love this move by Anderson. I really like programs that stay connected to their past. It's always especially appreciated by the fan base and good for the current guys to see that your program isn't just a quick pit stop on the way somewhere better but a place you can leave your mark at and come back to.

Glad to see him back on the bench.  As a big man coach he can help develop the "big guys" and could also be an influencing factor in recruiting same even though he can't hit the recruiting trail as a Coach/AC.
