St. John's # 225 of 389 in the national university category

**Note: this ranking has much different methodology than others like US News & World Report, Forbes etc.

The Washington Monthly magazine today released its 2020 College Guide and Rankings, the socially conscious alternative to U.S. News & World Report. While U.S. News rewards colleges and universities for their wealth, exclusivity, and prestige, the Monthly ranks them on how well they serve the country as a whole—by recruiting and graduating non-wealthy students, encouraging student activism, and producing research and technologies that create high-paying jobs and address threats like climate change.

Having alternative noteworthy criteria for ranking schools is an indicator or just how subjective school rankings can be, even while constructing objective criteria.

The Washington Monthly is a left leaning publication using a completely subjective approach to ranking schools meeting their socialist agenda.
Having Jackson State way above us and conservative Fordham way below us is an example.

I don't know this publication outside of the ranking list, and agree the criteria has a slant to get the outcomes they favor, but most of the methodologies the rankings publishers use is subjective in one way or another.

Washington & Lee U., where my youngest daughter went to school, is #4 on their list of best liberal arts colleges and would hardly be considered a bastion of liberal/socialist policies.
