This is why most industrial countries excepting the US - have a two tier post High School training strategy, The elite students go to colleges and the utra elite go to the best schools, those more skilled in technical things go to technical schools or skilled labor work. I was talking to a friend of mine from a large local utility company and he said they are still looking to fill jobs for HVAC people and the job is very well paying and union, but US kids do not seek this training and we actually have a shortage. In Germany, about 25% go to college, and 35-40% go to trades. These figures may be a bit old so if someone has better info pls share with our readers. The US is all screwed up with a small number of highly skilled college grads especially in the sciences and a very large number of second rate college kids and a big problem getting skilled labor.
