Would this be in addition to a grad transfer I hope? What do we know about Kante? I'd be curious to hear from anybody with insight.

I like to see us recruiting a guy like Kante that is a big and physcialmkid that can actually play the post. Add a kid like that, with a sit out transfer guard and maybe another grad-big of some type and we can be rolling. Also nice that Kante originally played at Robeson in Brooklyn. Wish I could find some video but I can't.

I actually think Kante might be #32 in this video. Maybe jpm can also give some insight.

Me too but we still need a bigger, more physically mature guy(s) to be competitive in the coming season.

Kante is 6'8-6'9" and 230. That's decent since for a freshman. I still think we will look for an additional grad big.

Right this is a great start. My emphasis on the "mature" part for this coming season. We need a big grad transfer that can come in immediately and play all season and hopefully post-season. Too tall an order IMHO to rely upon a Frosh to fill the void that we had this past season and with Clark we've got two bigger bodies that we'd still need to be facing 7 footers.

Non-insider insight, but I get the feeling the staff wants to add two big men. Two talented fifth-year guys, while potentially good for the team, may disrupt chemistry -- Owens and Clark have put in the work so they shouldn't lose PT. And if you add a lesser-talented fifth-year guy, you may as well just let Amor stay and graduate.

Freshman big gives us height we need but can be brought along slower than guys who will need immediate PT.

I think we bring in fifth-year guy, Kante if we can get him, a big guard/SF type who will sit a year, and a shorter guard who also sits a year. This is all just speculation, though.

Of course some of that gets thrown out the window if Matt has an in with the Lawsons.

I've also seen him listed at 6'-7" -- which would typically be closer to the truth. Also, can he provide us the offensive punch we need inside?

Am praying (probably in vain) that Luther Muhammad will give us a verbal before a transfer guard commits.

Kante seems like the kind of guy that develops well over 4 years and after 2 years we have threads hoping he doesn't transfer

Wow... I love this site! Yesterday there were a whole bunch of names that although we really have never seen we all have opinions on.

Today I hear about a player I have never heard of (Kante) and suddenly we are recruiting him. Some are saying he is a 2 star and others feel he is part of a future solution. Who knows?

Amazing. I guess what it tells me is that 1-there are people that still care and 2- although we all disagree at times we are all still have some level of faith.

I really hope the staff has done its work and is getting the guys we need and not just getting bodies. Good luck to CM and Matt A!

We all care here. It is also nice to agree to disagree with true fans.
As for Isaac he was on the radar of Georgia, Georgetown, DePaul and K State....all offered. Matt may have been busy entertaining an offer from LSU but obviously he reads this site and was lucky that a fan in Spain (Gonzalo) opened his eyes to him. Yes, it would be a good get for a 4 year player who is 6'8, 240 but he is not the center we need. ;)

Or 6'-6", 220 lbs. Whatever. :)

72 I agree with that, I hope its someone like this kid AND a big graduate transfer to help us next year. I think for al of our sanity and recruiting we need to try and get to the Tournament and I don't mean the NIT.

Don´t worry. My part of Slice´s salary will be small ;)
