Visited SJU This Weekend

Even though I am already committed, I headed to St. John's for accepted students day mainly because I wanted to look at the dorms and decide if I wanted to dorm suite style or traditional style next year since I will be living on campus.

The weather was awful, the rain never let up, and my family seemed miserable, but there was a positive to the day, I was standing outside of the dining hall waiting for a student to lead us to the dorms for a tour when I saw Yankuba Sima and Yakwe heading in for lunch.

I got way too excited, basically hugged them and told them I was a big fan and told them good luck next year. I didn't get a picture with them. But that made the day for sure. I was gonna tell them to get in there and eat a lot so they can put on some weight for next year, but that would've probably been too weird.

although the campus is not perfect, it is a lot better then my freshman year there. If you are living on campus I would recommend the suites, more room than the traditional ones

The campus is really nice now. I love it. The weather was just not ideal this weekend. I am definitely leaning towards suite because yea there is a lot of room I was shocked how much room there was

And about 1,000 times nicer than my freshman year.

Best decision I made at SJU was living in the suites

Your enthusiasm for SJU is awesome and inspiring for all alums on redmen.com. Thank you.

I have guys I work with who have High School age kids and when they visited St John's they mention how pleasantly surprised they are by the SJU campus. Now granted its not the University of Florida campus (I visited) or Penn State (my son attended) but for a city school it is quite nice.

I wonder what sju is doing to make sure that all metro and l.i. catholic hs kids visit the school to also be pleasantly surprised.

Which has me wondering: any suites available for senior-citizen alums?
