Glad St. John's is still alive in the NIT. Next game against Virginia is obviously going to be very tough especially on the road. In my opinion, Virginia was the biggest snub of the NCAA. More than 20 wins overall and 11-7 in the ACC(even in a slightly down year) should have been enough especially with wins against Maryland twice, NC State, Tennessee, North Carolina, Duke and at Wisconsin. They did have some bad losses but the overall record, conference record and big wins should have been enough. I would have put them in over Boise St. or LaSalle.
The two biggest problems in this game are going to be, first of all, how smart Virginia plays since they are such a well coached team. The basketball IQ differential between these teams is will be glaring. Virginia also runs actual offensive sets. The second problem is Joe Harris. If you have not seen him play he is one of the top fifteen players in college basketball this year. If he is on his game Virginia will be almost impossible to beat. That being said he has struggled a bit at the end of the year and if he does not play well the Redmen will have a chance if they play with the effort they did tonight and shoot a decent percentage from the field and the line.
I am guessing that Virginia will be 10 point favorites.
