It's about right though. I would like to think SJU should be higher under normal circumstances but recent lack of success has taken its toll. Villanova is the best program but you can make the case Georgetown JOB is still slightly ahead in prestige.

I don't disagree but you wouldn't know it by their hiring since Big John left.
Thompson assistant, Thompson's son, Greatest player with no prior College coaching experience.

Let's be honest none of the current BE coaches were established power 5 or what I would call high mid-major hires: Jay came from Hofstra, Marquette hired a Duke assistant, McDermott fell in Creighton's lap after he was about a year away from being fired by Iowa St and a chance to go back to Missouri Valley (after Dana Altman left Creighton for Oregon), Butler, Xavier just hire from within, Seton Hall hired from the MAAC(last 3 hires were MAAC coaches), DePaul recycled Leitao, Providence hired from the MAAC and SJU and Georgetown went with former players.

That is not to suggest those are bad hires but the net for many of these schools does not spread far and wide.

Didn't realize that Marquette is so esteemed for their "resources", however defined.

I can see why G'town at top and Nova second. Thought we'd score higher for media (NY) and game atmosphere (MSG)

What hurts us is that there are so many activities and sporting events available to residents in the NY metro area. That hurts our attendance at games and the amount of media attention that we receive. Schools like Creighton have a built in advantage in that they are the only game in town and probably get a lot of media attention and pack their arena for every game.

I thought the SJU comments were dead on, as were most for other programs

Don’t post this on the Seton Hall board. Some rough commentary.

If you make it in NY. You are like a celebrity. In the 80 s NYC was buzzing about SJU. Carneseca could walk into a restaurant and would be treated like a VIP. Of course NYC has no use for losers and we have stunk for 20 years. If we could become a perinnial top 25 program, we will get that buzz back. But, it takes talent and coaching. This may be a make or break year.

That is a good point but fair question then is any job in BE outside Nova a prominent job?
I think some are but based off of recent hires the question could be asked.

There is no job in the BE, besides Nova at this point, that would not be considered a stepping stone job to the big 5 for someone with such aspirations. However, every job is also good enough that if satisfied a coach could be more than fairly recognized and remunerated to stay for life, or whatever stands in for life in today's coaching environment.
