Very Classy Move by Coach K

From everything we have read the last 2 years RJ Barrett will be the first player taken in the 2019 draft. Whether he is first or later down the line is unimportant , point being that every expert is anticipating a very short stay in college. Knowing this Coach K is bringing the Blue Devils north of the border in late August in order to let RJ play 3 games , 1 in Montreal against McGill University , and 2 in Toronto in order that the Canucks can witness first hand their favourite son in a collegiate uniform.
Not a fan of Coach K but I must give credit where credit is due , this is a real classy move and is Greatly appreciated by the fans here who never got to see RJ play as he did so much of his high school in the US.

Classy?
Cunning may be a better term to use.
RJ is going to spend less than a year in college so getting that "Duke" education was not the carrot.
Could have gotten the same exposure in the greatest city in the world but Chris forgot to offer to play 3 games in Canada to snag Mr. Barrett.

Not to mention, Toronto has become a hub of high-end talent in Canada. What better way for the Dookies to send the message to the next Wiggins or Barrett that Durham is a good option.

I'm not as generous of spirit as you North. I'm voting for cunning over classy... ;-)

I'm weighing toward classy. Not sure if he still does it, but K used to try to schedule games close to home for his seniors. He probably figures Rowan is essentially a senior for him, and since there are no D-1 schools in Canada, it was probably better to do this exhibition tour rather than schedule real game at Buffalo.

They played Canisius in Buffalo early in Laettner's senior year.

Coach K was a leading architect of the rape of the Big East. His is a Hall of Fame coach but a cunning c*nt in a cutthroat business. I wish Duke nothing good and the fact that we couldn't get on Barrett's list from the son of an alum irks me even more. K made RJ a better deal and if we had a deal maker like Slice instead of a transfer recruiter we may have had a better chance.

“Deal maker”? Yeah right, nice moniker for a bag man.

Isn’t it normal for a coach to promise a recruit to schedule a game in their home town? I’m not seeing the grand gesture here. A lot of teams have done this same Canadian tour.

By the way redmannorth, according to page one, paragraph one, line one in the redmen.com bylaws "any member who initiates a complimentary thread of college basketball coaches including , but not limited to: the blue-bloods, uconn, Syracuse, any school coached by John Calipari, Roy Smith, and Bruce Pearl is deemed a 'Grade Five' offense, and is subject to immediate dismissal."

I think the "hometown tour" typically happens during a senior's season. I guess Coach K recognizes this will be Barrett's last year with the program.
