UNC Getting Crushed

by Butler in Maui 50-26 in the 2nd half

I'm watching it. Butler looked like crap last Tuesday in their game versus Xavier. They won on a hail mary shot by Rotnei Clarke versus Marquette. It just goes to show you that you really never know what to expect. Especially, early in the season.

'Nova lost by 18 tonight--at home--versus Columbia.

I just saw that Villanova score, what happened there?!

I don't know. I saw the score earlier when they were down 12 with :55 seconds left.

Butler is up 58-31 on UNC. The 3-point shot is a great equalizer. Butler is 9-22 behind the arc. They are also playing some good defense.

Wow, I can't believe Villanova lost at home to Columbia by 18. I saw them beat Purdue last week and they looked relatively decent.

UNC has upped the pressure, and Butler is tossing it away like the ball is hand grenade. They are only down by 17. We should implement that style more often.

Yes, although maybe Butler has settled back down. If you saw the Pitt/Oakland game on Saturday, Pitt turned up the heat on D in the last few seconds and Oakland couldn't even figure out how to inbound the ball. It's hard to watch teams completely crumble under the pressure, although I'll gladly watch it if our guys are the ones delivering the heat.

I was at the Alabama game. They didn't look too good last Friday.

Not good necessarily, to be fair the refs gave them the Purdue game on a platter.
But still, they looked to be athletic enough and have enough scoring between Archidiano, Bell, and Pinkston to beat a Columbia team by that score.

Butler only up by 6 (77-71) with 1:02 in regulation. Heckuva comeback by UNC after being down by 29, this half.

I know I've probably stated this before.... Dick Vitale is so, freakin' annoying. He'll make some good points from time to time, but overall he's annoying, as the dickens.

A good one between Indiana/G'town at the moment (tied at 26).

He's had some crazy comments again tonight.

On the game, does Oladipo remind you a little of Phil Greene (or vice versa)? He's a little taller than Phil, but players a similar game. If Phil can continue to improve his outside shot, I think he can be as effective for us as Oladipo is for Indiana.

They are some similiarities, but I think Oladipo is more explosive. Nevertheless, you have a good point about those two nearly being carbon-copies of one another.

Indiana had their chance to really open up a decent lead, but flubbed it up. I would press G'town 'til the cow's come home. No one other than Whittington and, maybe, Porter can handle the ball. We have the necessary depth to come after them.

Agreed. Georgetown is big and would likely try to go over the top of a press, but ball handling is not great. I don't know if Indiana is built for the press, but we should sure try it. When we play them, we may have to worry about their three point shooting, although they cooled off a bit from the start of the game. Should be a good matchup in January.

I watched Marquette press G'town last season in Milwaukee, and the Hoyas looked like they saw Jason Voorhies and Michael Myers on the court. They soiled their gym shorts. I think we'd give them fits by pressing them. Pressing them will speed 'em up and, possibly, make 'em rush shots. They shoot the 3-ball well, so speeding them up would take 'em out of rhythm.

I also noticed Porter was having some trouble with Watford's length while G'town was on the offensive end.
