UCONN Extending Ollie 5 years

Boy, that was fast. Don't they learn. Johnnie's made same mistake with Mahoney with an even better year than Ollie is having. No rush. This guy is going nowhere.

Considering they are in conference no mans land any sign of stability is good for them. So extending him was a no brainer.

With a one year deal, Ollie was hamstrung in terms of recruiting. A one year deal for a college coach is foolish to begin with. Almost for certain, Ollie, with no leverage, does not have a 5 year guaranteed deal, and can probably be fired at any point without more than a year of severance. It just makes recruiting possible now, just like the last deal Roberts received - announced as multi year, but can be severed at any time.

He did get 2 '13 kids to sign LOI's under that phony 1 yr deal.

If it's like Norm's it would be a "rollover 5 year contract". That was some nightmare for us as it appeared we would never be able to get rid of him.

Rollover contracts are pretty much the norm. No pun intended.

Oh, I think the pun was very much intended (lol) and i resemble that remark.

Funny, UCONN fans had been complaining that Ollie was having difficulty recruiting at the highest level. Underscores that UCONN expectations are still much higher than ours.

Don't be so sure; watched yesterdays game against the University of Washington. Uconn played in your face defense, challenging every shot and switching impressively. Mind you, I never believed they would be better then us but their defense could cause us scoring problems. BTW, not very impressed with U. of W.
