UCLA Frosh Leaves Bruins

An honor student with a questionable SAT score? Something fishy here.

He's a 6'6" athletic 2/3. Maybe Dr. Bobby G. can make some phone calls. I've seen him play and he is really good. He can finish with both hands and can absorb contact. His HS played and lost against Lovett's team 2 years ago.

We do not have any available scholarships.

Jerpac!!! Good to see you posting. For those who don't know my good buddy Jerpac, he is an excellent scout & an even greater SJU fan.

Trust and appreciate your analysis of him as a ballplayer, but if UCLA passed on him due to questionable academics, why would we want to venture down that road? Especially for a 3 star kid(according to most recruiting services) and at a time when we do not have an open roster spot?

Kid qualified under NCAA standards. He just didn't meet UCLA admissions requirements. St. John's doesn't have the same academic standards as UCLA. Therefore, he might be accepted here in spite of not getting into UCLA.

I have no opinion on this kid because I know nothing about him. Just addressing why we might be interested in a kid that was rejected by UCLA.

It sounded like there was more to the story than just a kid who couldn't quite meet UCLA standards. For some reason, the ADR saga comes to my mind.

A talented Filipino kid might also be a draw in the New York/New Jersey area if there were openings for him at local schools. But if he wants to stay on the West Coast, a talented Asian ballplayer would be the campus stud at USF.

Nah, no worries there, Obepka's gone. ;)

I was thinking about one of the other ADR sagas ;)

In any event this is not happening, although Imelda Marcos was working out at CA today. :)
