U.S. Rep. Rush Slams NCAA

U.S. Rep. Bobby Rush (D-Ill.) hosted a forum yesterday in DC to discuss the state of the NCAA, during which he said the organization is "one of the most vicious, most ruthless organizations ever created by mankind." Rush: "I think you would compare the NCAA to Al Capone and to the Mafia. It's a systemic, ongoing, prolonged abuse of thousands and thousands of innocent young men and women." NCAA VP/Communications Bob Williams said via e-mail, "Congressman Rush obviously doesn't know the NCAA" (USA TODAY, 11/2).

 We cant even get our walkons cleared to play. They are good standing students paying their own way. Re: Pelle and Garritt, they got As in their courses from an accredited school. I have never read about evidence of cheating or wrongdoing, just conjecture by the NCAA.
