Typical SJU. Can't get simple things right

Due to unforeseen circumstances beyond St. John’s control, the Malik Sealy “Legend Series Bobbleheads" were not delivered on-time to be distributed for tomorrow's 12 p.m. game. The bobbleheads were scheduled to arrive well in advance of the game, but due to an ongoing labor dispute and work stoppages at the West Coast ports, the bobblehead shipment has not been unloaded for delivery.

Fans who attend tomorrow's game vs. Seton Hall can stop by the Carnesecca Arena Ticket Office at a later date and present their Seton Hall ticket stubs to pick up their bobbleheads. Updates and pick-up instructions will be posted to RedStormSports.com as soon as we know more.

Come on, let's be fair. A major dock strike is not the fault of St. John's.

The bobble head figures were scheduled to be delivered a month ago.

Understand that Golden State had similar problems re a bobble head give away they had scheduled.

I hope our new president takes notice of this and other things that need to change. Can we take those red seat holders off the bleachers and replace them? Can our court get refinished so it doesn't look old? Can we modernized our non HD video screen? I love St. John's but we are always two steps behind In advancements. I am always afraid sooner than later our relevance will diminish.

Can we get the students seated in the first 10 rows all the way around the court at CA to create a real college basketball environment?

They better reduce season ticket prices, if that ever happens. I'm not paying the same to move up into the second level, I'm telling you that right now.

New class, 3 credit hours for cheering.

C'mon. This is not SJU's fault. The West Coast dock strike has been in the news for several weeks now. And it is starting to affect business throughout the country.

I don't put this on the university at all.

Insert your own (clean) UNC basketball joke here.

Sure, if we give away the tickets like they do at Duke. I know, I know, they don't really give them away, it is in the cost of the tuition, but it is still not something the students reach into their wallets for on game day. They camp out for the limited number of seats for days to get into a game at Cameron Indoor and the environment is amazing. CA could be like that. It is cozy enough and the fans are close enough to the court to have the same effect. That would make a great home court advantage. And yes, you would have to lower season ticket prices to move people up, but it would be worth it for the environment it would create. Just my opinion, but it will never happen.

The court itself is fine. The seatbacks were placed on one side of the arena but not the other because you lose a lot of seating with seats, as well as because of cost. The screen is relatively new.

Honestly I don;t think players aren't coming here because of the fact that there are bleachers here. For that matter, if we were 26-0 it wouldn't matter if fans had to stand in the cold.

Our students except for a very loyal 150 or so, show up ONLY for games like Duke, make a lot of noise as if they were big fans, and stay home the rest of the season. The last time they moved season ticket holders to accomodate students, the courtside bleacher section was largely empty for a few seasons.

Correct -- I was at Sarunas Marciulionis night. We got a voucher that you had to redeem online by NYE and they'd ship it to you. I went home to NY for the holidays and forgot to redeem and got screwed out of the bobblehead.

Great win and day yesterday in a must win situation, a loss to the short handed Pirates would have been devastating to the program.
You won't find a more positive poster than myself regarding the team this year, I always thought this team was much better than many of you who keep jumping on and off the bandwagon. Having said that however, being the contrarian that I am I figured this was the perfect time to be nitpicky and negative.
First, why have a pregame reception and hall of fame reception at the same time? Waiting 30 years to put Mullin in doesn't warrant a better time than 9:30 on a Saturday or not putting him in at the same time as 6 other people? If you absolutely need to have both receptions at the same time then at least have SJU security and other staff have a clue that these events are going on. A bunch of people trying to go to the pregame reception were wrongly directed to the long cold walk up the hill to the Hall of Fame reception. After getting the unceremonious boot from the HOF reception people were told that the pregame reception was in the University Center. Security told us and others on the way there that the University Center was holding a Seton Hall reception and that there was no SJU event in the UC. (The pregame reception was in the UC, there was no Seton Hall event I am aware of despite being told this by more than one SJU empoyee).
Second, I know the reason why the bobbleheads did not arrive in time but whether it was SJU's fault or not it seems like these types of things always happen. Whoever was to blame, there were many fans I'm sure that do not read redmen.com who were surprised to find out later in the game that they should not have thrown out their ticket stubs if they wanted a bobblehead at some later date.(the guy begging for ticket stubs after the game was priceless) I even had a friend that still thought the game was at 2:30 until I mentioned how early I was going to the game. Communication doesn't seem like a strong point for the University.
I know the case of the missing bobbleheads was due to the dock strike but what is the reason for the problems with the concession stands? You shouldn't have to miss a half of basketball because your kids want some food. Once you get through that ridiculous line you don't want to hear that they are out of just about every food that your kids want because of the multitude of excuses I have heard.(fire, delivery issues once again, not a big enough game to have meat, etc) I know that unfortunately Carnesecca isn't used to sellouts but they shouldn't be so ill prepared when people actually show up. The lines were so long going in that security gave up and just let everyone in without scanning.
Back to the bobbleheads, wouldn't it be a good idea to spread it out a bit and honor the great Malik Sealy and his family on a different day besides the Mullin HOF induction.
As far as communication goes, have they announced yet when they are going to celebrate the seniors prior to the game? Did I miss it waiting on line outside of Carnesecca?
The only negatives for the game itself I could think of are first of all the fact that you can't give up 40 points in the first half against a depleted Seton Hall team. Secondly, although it seems like I am in the minority in wanting him back, how does Lavin call 2 momentum killing TO's after made baskets in the 2nd half again? Each time Seton Hall scored baskets out of the timeout. Don't get it.

Lol, 8 paragraphs isn't enough? I guess you could partially blame the horrible Professor Turano for not teaching me how to write correctly. However, although I am certainly not a good writer I was a spelling bee champ back in the day so at least I know how to spell "continuous". :p

Business as usual, mom and pop organization. I really wish someone could be brought in and take a look at how things are handled from top to bottom.
