Two SBU players arrested

Not exactly an ideal situation for the new coach to walk into for his first week.

It's a crazy situation, no doubt. But a guy leaves $5k in cash in a car and is set to graduate with a degree in business administration, not a little irony there. ;)

Something is very wrong here, if I am a business major with a job, why not deposit the check. Where are you cashing a $5,000.00 check? A check casing place will charge you an exorbitant fee. There is a lot that is being left out of this story

LMAO, that is what I was thinking.

SBU vs. SJU was too close for my liking in the thread title !!!!

Story seems odd.... plus, this kid must have a pretty good job if he's already clearing $5K in tax refunds while still a college student.

If this happened just before Rutgers positioned opened up, would Pikiell have still gotten the job ?

I think so. He didn't throw the brick through the window and grab the cash. And it wasn't a lack of institutional control in the locker room. It was just two players too easily tempted.

I'd like to know how they happened to notice it, though. And how the victim just happened to catch them at the right time.

I don't think a one time problem like this affects a coach. It's when you have repeat issues that changes the outlook on a coach.

Not the same situation, but the following is a true story. When I sold my prior house, I scooped up some last minute possessions from the house, including a digital camera and other things of value and went to the closing. I had a very large bank check in my possession and on the way to the bank stopped off at my office, which was in a very low crime area. Before running in for 3-4 minutes max, I decided to grab the envelope with the check and take it with me. In those 3-4 minutes someone smashed the car windows and stole the contents of my car. So I understand the circumstance.

Look, there are very few basketball geniuses that construct programs rapidly. Most guys who have the kind of success Stony Brook had this past season take a few shortcuts, such as questionable academics or character. Not saying that happened hear because even Calhoun had issues with a few of his guys and that was at a whole different level. Obviously the school should not even wait before suspending these guys and bouncing them, but these are very politically charged times and I'm guessing that's affecting the school's administrators in taking careful steps here.

a few things caught my attention. Hes driving a rental car with 5 grand in cash. How did they know the money was there? Who leaves 5 grand in cash in their car
