Can we draw a line and support the kids for the rest of the season. We all know we are in a bind with a 6 person rotation. Let's show the kids support. They can really use it. They are giving their blood on the court. Let's then wait until May to re-evaluate the state of the union? Can people sign on to this?

I'm not a rose colored eyes guy. We can't change the current state of the team. We can support the team though.

Instead of having your blood pressure rise wouldn't be great if we could enjoy talking about the team we love???

Going to walk away from the computer now...believe we are moving in the right direction.

haha just busting chops  ... your posts are generally positive and not redundant...

But anyways I agree this is a young team we are going to have some beatings but compeating like we did today was great. We need to support our guys to build confidence and thank them for sticking in there during a tough situation.

I support the kids. I think with the exception of the Cincinnati game they have played with heart and passion. I also think its a incredible that they've one four conf games given the circumstances. I'm frustrated with some other things that I've expressed, but the kids deserve our full support.

We are ony hurting ourselves with these negative posts. Also, these kids are going to be FANTASTIC next year even if we only add a few role players! I am so stoked for our future. We have a sensational core, scholarships to give, and we have a coach that has five or six top ten recruiting classes.

I´m sure that the kids would have much more support if Coach Lavin was at all the games.

I´m not saying that Coach will have to be on the bench (I understand the medical reasons), but he should be in all the games (if he has not medical questions). Be present in the stands, speaking to the players before and after the games.

guess not...

OMG you read my mind. I was just about to Start a topic call TRUCE. This constant fighting is making me sick. I have not been posting but I do read every day and if you took out all the repetitive points the topics would be 2 pages instead of 20. For the Whiners, you have made your point ad nauseam. We know you are not happy and want everyone fired, kicked off the team, and immediately bring in in mullin, jackson, sealy, boo harvey, Karrem, and Jesus to solve all our problems. I am sure you would also like to start cloning John Wooden, Cobe, CP3, Labron, and Shaq to insure we have a steady influx of studs in the future.
For the defenders, just let it go. If you just ignore it, it tends to go away. Let the one point stand and let it die, no matter how much it gets under your skin. Reasonable people are not swayed by unreasonable arguments, and sometimes they will even have a point.
Lets all just remember that we just came off the Jarvis years and the Norm years and this staff collectively know more about basketball than this whole board put together. Have some faith and endure the rest of the year, the kids are playing their hearts out. The sad simple fact is that if we go against a good big man right now we will lose. We are bringing a 9 mm to a 50 cal fight.
If by May we have not signed anyone and we lose more of out existing kids Please blast away. If on the other hand we do manage a decent class and our kids stick it through and are still ready to battle lets get behind our team and coaches and get ready for a brighter future.
We Are……………

The last time we went through all this negativity we were trying to insure that Norm got fired instead of giving him another year to recruit 10 kids which would've signaled the death of this program. We were the negativists at that time.

We were fighting off the rose colored fans like OLD FAN whose opinions were dead set against firing Norm. Thank God Norm cooperated by losing some key games.

Now, the negativity seems tame by contrast. We have an all Freshman team, no Head Coach, no bench, potentially some great recruits coming in, and we play the 11th ranked team to a virtual standstill. I'll take the negativity they spout knowing the future is so bright.

Team Kool-aid has made their point ad nauseam as well...that we will be a final 4 team next season and that lavin will bring in a top 5 recruiting class come may and sir dom pointer will turn out to be lavor postell.

You clearly didn't read why some posters are down on the current state of the program. All of which are legit issues defended by sound opinions and reasoning...along with some facts.

I have my concerns, and I certainly haven't been as optimistic as some.
But, this makes a ton of sense to me:

We are ony hurting ourselves with these negative posts.

Signing day isn't far away, and coach is out there working diligently. Do recruits read these boards? I have no idea, but why risk turning them off? This class is so pivotal to the future of the program; I have no problem holding off on giving my opinion until all the dust settles.

I have no problem with a truce as long as the truth isn't off limits. As things happen, both good and bad, they should be open for discussion. Shuffling things under the carpet doesn't help the team. This is New York not Moscow. If not for protests Jarvis or Norm Roberts would still be running the show. I also vividly recall the brutal attacks Brian Mahoney endured when things weren't up to snuff. Where were the apologists then? The expression of discontent is a perfectly natural thing around SJU just as it is at any major program that isn't cutting it to the fans' satisfaction.

It really depends on what kind of truths you're talking about Bob. The real truth or what you conjure up as truth in that funny little head of yours. If Lavin needing therapy is a truth then forget I asked.

+1

A guy can't even start a simple truce post without three of the biggest on this board showing up to shit all over it.

You know your picture just doesn't do you justice but thankfully my head's a whole lot bigger than yours. And those glasses, well...
Anyway I'm talking truths like our record, our roster, our recruiting status, the rejection of Ron and Q Roberts....stuff like that which some have chosen to ignore. That's really all I care about. Of course it would be nice to have a coach at the games but you can't have everything I guess. I just wonder whether Steve's presence on the road will offset his absence from the games. I can wait till May to discuss that but I will respond to posts that strike a nerve. Till May then....

My people close to the program tell me that because of posters like Marco Baldi and myself, who drank the Norm Roberts Koolaid for so long, Lavin's insecurity would not allow him to keep any players with the last name Roberts. Hence why Ron Roberts was asked to go elsewhere and Quincy Roberts was pushed out. The poster who suggested psychotherapy for Coach Lavin may have been on to something. ;)
