transfers SJU May Get Involved With

And here is your yearly reminder that currently SJU has 13 scholarship players. The limit is 13. And if a player transfers mid year you would very likely need a scholarship for him during the 2nd semester.

We don't have any scholarships to give unless he plans on walking on for a year.

Even if we are involved, I think I'd rather take my chances with Hawkins over a guy who's injury prone.

He wants to be a Stretch 4 and he's stuck at center @ 6'9" so he bails on his team just as the season starts. Haven't seen him play much but questionable hands and stretch 4 is enough for me to want to pass unless it is a package deal with Luther.

We need size so badly I don't even care what they want to do. Just get a big body on the court!

doesn't matter how big they are if they are parked out on the perimeter or can't catch a pass inside. been there done that.

The player you just described would never ever see the court.

[quote="fordham96" post=303514]You want some frontcourt help for this year (assuming SJU had any room).

Elijah Burns from ND (nothing spectacular mind you) is transferring. Here is the kicker he is immediately eligible because he will graduate in December. So as a grad transfer he will be able to play for two teams over 1 year (2018-19) AND have another year of eligibility.

Another reason why you should never use all 13 ships

To get a guy with lower stats than Blutarski"s GPA? ;) :)

I didn't realize we had players waiting in the wings who averaged 5 and 4 in 11 mpg...........

The staff needs to focus on the current roster and the few HS kids we are after. Matt can hit the transfer wire after the season when they know the scholarship count.

Nobody has been more critical of SJU's over reliance on transfers and lack of top high school recruits on the roster. But with 2 players sitting out, 3 HS recruits who clearly are not ready to play major minutes and the 1 frontcourt guy hurt all I was doing was throwing out someone who could potentially (if we had a spot open) might be worth taking a flier on this year since he is a high major player who is IMMEDIATELY ELIGIBLE and is a big. That's all. I mean how many "Hey would Ian Steere be immediately eligible" posts did we get until people realized the answer is NO. In this case this kid would be eligible immediately. None of this should distract from trying to land top talent for the future.

Three weeks is plenty of time for the staff to run a kid off if they decided Burns is what we needed.

Life is ‘situational’, so it depends, but I think treachery of that order should be reserved for a stud 5*— not a spare part, even if needed.
Think of the blowback on the recruiting trail?

Stats I read were 2 and 2 in 9 minutes but in any case where's your sense of humor I did put a wink and a smile. BTW I do agree with your premise.
