This really illustrates the sometimes murky quid pro quo of major donations. It often comes with positions of authority, or provides some of value to the donor. Naming a building after the donor does that.
500k is a pittance for such a right, and was small even when Bent made it. His suit greatly diminishes him, and i believe any settlement should place a valuation on what having his name on the building was worth. To me, the guy should just go away
