Top Soph's for Next Season

Very cool. I like the "could be the best guard in the conference" statement.

I believe that this kid will be one of the all time greats at SJU when it is all done!!
#3 Wow!!!!

What would this look like if Moe came back? Would Dee have dropped? Where would Moe rank? Interesting questions to ponder.

If D'Angelo stays for four years he could challenge Chris Mullin's all-time St John's scoring record. However, it is more likely that he will leave early, especially if his .374 shooting percentage improves dramatically.

Amazingly Mullin scored 2440 points in his 4 years without a 3 point line. Dee had 572 last year. He does the same for the next 3 years and he would fall around 200 points short. Then again too many factors to add in. Will he get as many shots? Will he get 'better shots' as opposed to last year. Have to add post season games which he didn't have last year.

Would love to see it unfold.

3Angelo being #3 on the list is just fine w/ me. Great recognition, hopefully he can generate some pre-season hype and start getting the star treatment, which would lead to a lot of FT opportunities.

Based on his size, i think he still stays until at least his JR year, but if he works on some ball handling and passing skills, the sky is the limit. He's going to smash Willie Shaw's SJU career 3 point fg's made mark regardless.

76 last year means if he repeats that he will beat Shaw's record of 151.

Looks like that list forgot some guys...Pointer, Garrett, Greene. In all seriousness- these guys are going to a lot more formidable and mature for sophs with all the playing time and exposure they received as freshmen. I like our chances in the Big East as well as a tourney run...(a guy over 6'9 would help...but still)

Remember Mullin scored 498 point as a freshman. Think Harrison's point total will increase as he will have more confidence which will result in higher shooting percentage. He will definitely get his shots. He's so aggressive — a threat from anywhere within half court — and has no conscience — and I mean that in a good way.

True but also minutes might decrease a bit with more bodies so he's not running out of gas. He was given one of the two keys to the car last year. This year more keys were made. Shots might decrease, but also shot selection might improve. Lots of factors out there.

His minutes will almost certainly go down, but with a more fluid offense, which we most surely will have this year and stronger legs (12 guys means we won't run the poor guy ragged) I'd be willing to wager some important stats like FG%, FT%, PPS, and assists all increase substanially.

I think we'll open it up a ton over the next few years that nobody will be playing over 25 mpg except for Harrison. His balll-handling and vision are awesome for a two guard and that allows him to help the team move up and down the court faster than the better athletes around him.

His shot will only improve and a back-to-the-baket big and added shooters will give him space. I am confident he'll average over 20 ppg at least one season. He is suc a savvy and smart player as well...as a senior it is just going to be silly how many fouls he draws because of that. Also, we wil be playing more games than Mullin did back in those days if we are succesful.

Did anyone other than me notice there were 2 canadians in that elite group?
Firestorm where are you.

I don't think so. Mullin's record is most likely safe, given our head coach. Lav's offense has never been conducive to a "big time scorer". You're more likely yto see 4-5 double digit scorers than you are a single guy getting 23 a game like Chris did Steve Lavin has NEVER had a 20 pt scorer on any of his teams. His leading scorers have been:

1997: 17.7 pts, Charles O'Bannon
1998: 19.0 pts, JR Henderson
1999: 15.9 pts, Baron Davis
2000: 16.0 pts, Jason Kapono
2001: 17.2 pts, Jason Kapono
2002: 16.0 pts, Jason Kapono
2003: 16.8 pts, Jason Kapono
2011: 18.3 pts, Dwight Hardy
2012: 17.0 pts, D'Angelo Harrison

we need an elephant in the middle- where is the legit center?

I don't think we really need an elephant in the middle. We aren't likely to recruit that style of player either. We're looking for cheetahs and gazelles. Chandler is the most "legit" put center we will likely see. We have guys like Gift and Orlando but one more PF/C who can bang in the middle would certainly be great. I'm glad we finally have enough depth next season so we can have a legit rotation players. That's the biggest difference. Like I said before, we struggled last year due to lack of depth and experience. Not many losses of ours due to a height problem or lack of a "legit" center.
