Don Peps is the Classic. Stinking like garlic for a week with the clam sauce. Also love the carafes of "Red" and "White". Someone at a table asked for a rose and they literally poured the red in the white carafe.

In Memorium:
Dantes (Just Because)

Is Elia's corner for fish still open in Astoria? I know he passed but the quality remained high. Best fried calamari ever. Did they survive the pandemic?
Astoria I dont know so well so not sure if it's still open

I know this is in Brooklyn, piggybacking this thread, any of y’all ever have Federov’s in Williamsburg? Their IG page is ridiculous.

And go check MJ’s homeland thread if any of you have heard of the Bake and Shark from Trinciti Roti in Richmond Hill. Had their “doubles” too. Place is banging.

This is NYT fake news.

No mention of L’incontro, Stamatis, or Christos Steakhouse in Astoria?

They also failed to mention Manetta’s in LIC.
Big fan of Manetta’s. Also of Piccola Venezia (I grew up a three quarter court heave away) and I drove by a few weska ago and thought it but the dust, as it’s now a construction project. But it will be back on that site in 2024.

I agree Christos is awesome, but my favorite restaurant in Queens made the list, Zum Stammitsch.

Piccolo Venezia is still closed for construction? I thought they would have reopened by now.

Anytime the Times goes into Queens, it reminds me of the same awestruck fascination of David Attenborough observing a tribe in the African savanna from a distance.

I really like Zum Stammtisch but Parkside is the best
restaurant I have ever eaten at in Queens.
First time I ever went to Parkside like 25 years ago went with my partner at work and 2 of our clients who owned a biz in the garment center ( garmentos ) we go to sit at a table toward the back and our clients made us sit with our backs to the front door because they needed to see who walked in. I'll leave the story at that as to why :)

I audited a lot of garment clients in my early days in Accounting so I get it.

I’ve been to almost every big German place around here and somehow have never been there and everyone raves about it. Really want to go at some point.

Thx JSJ.

At Don Pepe's, all the waiters think they are extras in Goodfellas

They push the specials for $75 and side if broccoli di rabe for $35 like there is nothing else worth eating

Been away from Queens for more than 25 years but just looking at the Parkside menu makes me hungry. Can’t believe I never made it there growing up in Flushing.
