Top 30 Centers on Twitter

 Gary Parrish, College Basketball Insider, picked the top 30 centers in college basketball. And to my disgust, Obekpa was not one of them. What annoys me most is the fact that several freshmen were selected; guys who haven't played one stinking college game. One selection that stands out to me was Behanen from Louisville. He's 6'6", maybe a rebounder not a center. Some will more then likely claim that our boy Chris is not a scorer yet. How does he not qualify after being one of the top shot blockers in the nation?

Say no more

His stats aside from BPG weren't pretty. But if the top college teams held a centers-only draft, Obekpa would certainly go in the first 30 picks.

Across-the-board disrespect is OK with me if it motivates the team.

Unlike matter of opinion, college basketball is a game of results and Obekpa will have his opportunity to produce results this coming results by way of wins.

Spot on with both points.

There aren't 30 teams in the country who wouldn't trade their center for Obekpa. 15, maybe 20. Too much value defensively and he's only going to get better on the other end.

I hope the team has taken note (and it seems like they have) of how they are veiwed from the balance of the pre-season coverage. Locally, there is an acute awareness of their potential. In the conference, it's a mixed bag with a recognition of their established individual talent and potential team capability, but still picking them in the middle of the pack. Nationally they are not viewed as a serious player yet, individually or as a team. They show up on some "teams to watch" lists, and Jakarr and Rysheed get a little bit of love, but as you say they otherwise aren't getting much respect. These rankings mean very little in the big picture, but could be useful as a near-term reminder/motivator of how much this team has to prove.
