Flirted with going pro but is coming back and that's good not just for St. John's, but for college basketball. Ponds is a bucket-getter. He has some ridiculous possessions from time to time, which makes him all the more entertaining. Because Ponds is back, anticipation for St. John's this season is as high as it's been, arguably, in a decade and a half. -- MN

We may come to learn that the NCAA clearing Heron to play this year, after transferring from Auburn in May, was one of the most impactful decisions off the offseason. The Red Storm is considered to be in contention for the top of the Big East. Heron pairing with Shamorie Ponds has tantalizing potential. -- MN
 
Pretty crazy. When was the last time that SJU had a consensus top 10 player in college basketball? Artest I guess? I think Heron could have been a bit higher, and was also a little disappointed that Justin Simon wasn't included at all. His metrics according to Kenpom were off the charts last year, and I expect him to be a top 100 type player as well. The talent is there time to get to work. Bring on November 6th please.
 
Agree it is hard to justify Justin Simon not being in the top 100; also think Jesse Govan deserves to be higher than # 41.
 
Simon should absolutely be in the Top 100 but he gets overlooked. Top 5 in rebounds, assists and steals last year in arguably the second best conference in America.
 
Simon waaaay overlooked. IMHO there’s no reason for top prospects to be on his list that have never played a college game yet. The number 1 player hasn’t played a minute of college ball? Cmon.. I can’t buy into that garbage. Gotta earn it... get untested freshmen off this list. No way to project this stuff... Simon gonna eat Rowan Jr’s lunch this year...
 
I will also add that Duke has the most at 4 players in the top 100, yet the highest scorer they return this season is Bolden, at 4.4 points per game. The Duke hype machine keeps rolling. My only hope is that Cragg knows how to spread that Kool-Aid and I’m sure he does. Let’s get it movin!
