Too Many Leftists?

No , this isn’t about the Leftists in politics . I was just trying to remember, without any success , how many Div 1 BB programs have started 3 Left handed Players ? I haven done any Research and don’t plan on any .. But, just a thought , is it a disadvantage to have 3 Lefties in our Line up at the same time ? It’s not just Heron and Clark favoring going left but , it makes them easier to defend . Ponds is more Amidextrious and can go right or left . Back in the Day, I can recall two lefties , David Russel and Mullin both playing in the Starting line up . David was always going Left and not developing a right hand , might have prevented his having a Pro Career somewhere . Other than Mullin and his HOF career , I don’t recall a ton of lefty players having great NBA careers . Gail Goodrich is the only one I can think of.. What does all this mean ? Maybe nothing or maybe , it does impact Team play ?

Lefties tend to have more developed off-hands because they are forced to do many things right-handed as kids.

Sly, a few lefties that come to mind mostly from the olden days are Lenny Wilkens, Willis Reed, Nick Van Excel (who some have compared Shamorie to), Tiny Archibald, Billy Cunningham, Bob Lanier & Bill Russell.

A ton of lefties if you scroll through entire list beyond the top ten
. Some good Players but , no Willis Reed or Chris Mullin in top 10? Way too many Centers picked who weren’t as good as Reed who could also play forward . Mullin takes the nod over Goodrich, Bosh , Gilmore , Wilkins in my opinion
Class of 72 had a vote.

Dick Barnett was another good lefty who started with Willis on first championship squad.

Having 3 lefties should be an advantage for us. Most teams are not used to defending people like that.
