Tom Konchalski Retiring

Two salt of the earth hoops gurus, Tom K & our own John Miciotta

@jpm114

Tom brought so much insight wisdom and caring to his scouting work . Coaches, players, parents and fans all were lucky to know him. He was called a "Super Scout" but he was also the most humble of gentlemen. No one practiced both the art & science of scouting better....

Hope he's ok.
He's the type of guy who would continue doing this until he couldn't.

I read some of the twitter comments and the one that stuck out was thinking Tom would never retire. Also the comment that he assisted coaches at all levels. It was always great to see him when he popped into a gym. What a legend.

Great video for the old timers to reminisce and the youngsters to learn some history.

Tom's uniqueness and the real value of HSBI was not scouting Felipe Lopez, Stephon Marbury or Lamar Odom.

It was writing about kids that no one else featured, the kind of players geared for low D1, D2, D3, NAIA and Juco programs.

Everyone would be looking at the star on the court. Tom looked at the third, fourth and fifth starters and the bench.

If I remember correctly didnt he take public transportation everywhere? Maybe after everything going on he just said he had enough?

Stand up guy. Used to love sitting near him at Port Chester CYP tournament every year. The conversations he had with everyone were must listens.

He did, ran into him scouting a game in Fairfield Ct & my buddy dropped him off at Metro North for journey back to Queens. At one time, Tom never used a computer & all his reports were hand written. Talk about old school.
