to Develop New Strategic and Master Facilities Plans

If all it took to get Cragg was a 30 point loss then I’ll take it.

There have been rumors of renovation since Goff, nice to see the official process begin. Cragg is really using his Duke connections to help us. Very refreshing to actually see real things being done directly as a result of him.

By the way, I listened to his interview with Brandon Tierney and it's a great one. I'll link below. If you listen to his answers, he keeps talking about how he "knows" he can help Chris "be the best coach he can be" and that it hasn't happened yet. Clearly implying staff change is needed. Glad to hear that.

Finally someone realizes what needs to be done and is taking action. Been impressed with Cragg since day 1; perfect guy for the job. We need Big East facilities to take it to the next level, that is indisputable. Helps a ton with recruiting and player development.

When Cragg says his first step coming here was simply listening, he really wasn't BSing...he listened to myself and many other SJ fans, texted, emailed, spoke to in person, etc. Look for the shape of the arena to resemble more of a bowl like Stony Brook's arena with the student section moved to the side like Duke. Makes for much better optics IMO especially on TV. More seatbacks a possibility, but don't expect all seatbacks obviously. Concessions will also likely be upgraded. Those were the 2 things Cragg heard emphasized most by fans.

I had been told Cragg was putting a Master Plan together for Facilities. The fact that the University has never gone through such an exercise even when adjacent Kaiser and Belson Stadiums were being planned and constructed Belson and Taffner were being planned and built speaks volumns. It is also could have helped with Taffner. All those facilities are nice but could have been so much better if integrated properly and more strategic planning had been done.

Mike Cragg is a very talented, hard working guy and a great hire it appears. He’s not a magician though. In addition to any corporate support he can develop, as well as tapping major donors, there will certainly be an opportunity for fan participation within reason and means of a capital campaign developed post strategic planning process.

FWIW... Duke didn't engage in a full review of their athletic program and facilities until after the Duke lax episode.

That was about 10-12 years ago

Mr.Cragg gave a number of us a tour of the Blue Devil facilities last Friday.

Very impressive to say the least.

You can do a lot when you have lots of $$$

How many here would pledge even $1K annually for a 10 year period ?

Many people may not know about Corporate Matching Gifts and that might stimulate gifting , which is Tax Deductible. The Induvidual portion , not the Emoyer portion which they can claim. And do! Significantly . I would consider a $ 100 Ten Year Program pledge though . Totaling $1000. But, folks should get something extra for that long term Commitment . Maybe Premier Parking at CA for a Home game or 2 . Maybe a Coupon for a Beer for a MSG game . Bud or Bud Light . A SJU hat with BB on the Brim. Something as a small incentive .

I like his perspective on Mullin's tenure so far. He's never been a head coach, hasn't been involved with college athletics since he was a player, and he's been through 2 AD's and 3 interim AD's. When taken those factors into consideration, it really is pretty remarkable what Mullin has done here thus far (even though most posters on here won't admit it).

Cragg is a monster hire. The Athletic Departtment at SJU has had some people I like(d), some great individual talent here and there and even a relative of mine, but the culture has always been mom and pop.

I hope we can retain him for a number of years.

Me too, but there's a huge decision to be made in the very near future that some may be intent on turning into a power struggle when it should not be one.
