tidbit: Lavin expects staff to stay intact

St. John's coach Steve Lavin, who is still recovering from fall prostate cancer surgery but is now cancer free, said he fully expects his staff to stay intact. That includes interim coach Mike Dunlap and his longtime mentor Gene Keady. Lavin said he would have expected Moe Harkless to test the NBA draft process if he were able to this spring, but the new draft rule prevents that from happening. Players will have to make one decision and stick with it a week after the Final Four.

I think this statement by Lavin really means that
keady will be back, and he expects the others will be back (but if an opportunity opens for Dunlap or Hicks he would be sad to lose them but be happy as heck for them to have the opportunity)

Great idea. Who better than somebody as organized and structured as Dunlap.

If any member of our staff .can advance their career that would be great. That is what any job is about If you have the talent go get .it. No one is selfish to hold.anyone back. If they move on credit Lavin he picked well

 Bringing Keady to the team obviously benefits Lavin, the players and the program in general. It also speaks to Lavin's sense of loyalty and decency. Coach K lost his wife several years ago and this opportunity was good for him on many levels. Class guy that Lavin!
