This past season, we shot 33.5% which put us 195th for D1 teams

35% gets you to Top 105, and 36% gets you to top 55

assume right now we stay about the same with the trade offs between who left, who came in and improvements & better shot selection of returnees.

Getting a shooter at this point in the portal, with our roster and at our level means getting a guy who will probably have deficiencies in most every other aspect of his game: Lyson, Luyk, Hooper, Coburn.

So as a cautious optimist, I'm banking that none of our guys are finished products.
Shooters aren't born.
It's actually one of the core bball skills that can be improved with hard work.

Players will always step up. If you look at last year roster on paper the only proven 3 point shooter at the high major level was Champ. Dylan and Wheeler ended up improving a lot and nobody really seen that type of jump from either of them. The 2 guys that they brought in that were suppose to be good shooters ended up not really living up to the role, Smith struggled shooting at high major level and Coburn was in and out of the rotation and was streaky when he did play.

With this roster, I think Jones, Pinzon, and Wusu all have a chance to be 35%-40% 3 point shooters. Jones was at 30% last year but if you watched his games, he has a smooth looking shoot and playing in a system that creates a lot of open transition shots, I think his numbers will improve a lot like Wheeler's did. Nyiwe I think has a chance to also shoot a high percentage, but at a lower clip than the guys mentioned above. And guys like Posh, Curberlo, and Mathis if they can shoot in the high 20's low 30's I think that would be a win, with them, you just need them to shoot just well enough to keep defenses honest and not pack the lane.

Then you have the guys that are unknowns that could end up being good 3 point shooters like Storr, King, and Traore. Storr from just highlights looks like he has a nice looking stroke. And that's a part of his game that's been reported he's been really working on.

I basically agree with this, except that I hope we do not have to rely on Nywie except for an occasional open look. As for Posh, I think his wrist and leg injuries hampered his shooting last year; he seemed more tentative than his freshman year.

I gotta think that Posh is busting his butt improving his shot. The kid is a bulldog and knows he is missing this in his game.

If we made 18 of the 460 3pt shots we missed last year (3.9%) we are over 36% for the year and in the top 55. Not a huge jump needed to go from mediocre to pretty darn good statistically

If it was a stat, seemed like we would be Top 10 in airballs from 3 last year.

Think we can do better there at least.
