Three Point Defense Emphasis

This has been such an obvious and prolonged problem. I think I’ve read a game thread post from everyone here on the subject.

Beat Michigan.
watched some of the replay of the game last night- it was SOOOO refreshing to see Rick inside the huddle- say (i think i have it right) "They are getting mid-range jumpers- that is Fine! as long as we deny the 3"...

so obviously something they emphasize in practice.

The improved close outs were one of the first things I noticed. I think we had around 5 deflected or blocked three-point attempts. Hopefully that continues and we don’t foul there.

In prior regimes our guys would just give a token close out on the shooter or tackle them.

Closing out on 3 point shooters is all about hustle and discipline. No more just throwing out the basketball and hoping our talent wins. Also as mentioned, RP definitely emphasized this in the huddles. The team is certainly a work in progress but I am sure that we will continue to improve. Looking forward to watching us play more difficult opponents and getting better as we progress throughout the season. Should be fun to watch our 3 point defense against Creighton.
