I'd take the 7 to Shea, transferring from the E or F at Queens Plaza, or maybe Roosevelt Avenue? or maybe Woodside? Damn, somebody help me.

I remember how the elevated lines would screech as they went around a bend like the one in Long Island City. I could here the trains rumble in the summer from my bed room with the windows open and the screens on, could here the bells of the doors opening and closing and the fading clatter as they disappeared into the night. Somehow they were beautiful noises and I miss them.

No free transfer from Queens Plaza IND to Queensboro Plaza IRT. Had to be Roosevelt Ave (74th St.). 1966 my freshman year at St John's. Lived in Flushing past the Main St. Terminal, and later in Sunnyside near 40th St. Lowery. The subway graffiti was appalling.

You could transfer from the f to the 7 at Quart Sq, or transfer from the e or f at Roosevelt.

The 7 has newer trains but still screeches on that turn.
The shot of the 7 train with the railing in it, that Grand Central by the escalators.
