Only name I've heard is Greg Vertrone.

Don't know much about him other than his nickname is "Shoes," he has a good recruiting rep and his HC record at FDU was 26-95.

What's Tony Chiles up to these days?

Well, that's the last time I'll start a thread......

Greg Shoes Vetrone has had a long standing career in the basketball world. He has recruited multiple pros to college teams. He has worked on every level of Div I and oversees. He has also coached semi-pro teams that played against college teams. He is a great recruiter and has connections not only in NYC but nationally and even internationally. The main job of assistant coaches is to get players and Vetrone will be great at that. This life long Johnnies fan would be psyched if we could get this guy on board!

Sorry that I missed the boat on this one, but did Demeo leave/let go? I heard Van was promoted, but that's the last I heard in regards to staff. Sorry if this has been covered in a previous thread.

Steve out, although not announced formally yet.

Any reason why Demeo is out?

Vetrone’s wife was at the lunch table with the coaches wife’s a few weeks ago so idk why they haven’t announced it yet. They also need to fill Will Bartlett’s spot and I’m not sure they will or not, I’m in the same boat, have less staff and pay them more.

Don’t know enough about him to comment positively or negatively. Any idea why he was moved from Assistant Coach to Player Development role?

Rasheen Davis who I mentioned earlier got let go last year by Bobby Hurley at ASU, before that was at Xavier and before that Manhattan has resurfaced at St. Peter's evidently.

That happened when Steve Pikiell took over at Rutgers. Shoes had been an assistant coach under the previous regime and when Pikiell became the head coach, he brought in his own assistants but kept Vetrone on the payroll because of his contacts and recruiting acumen, even though he was no longer eligible to go on the road to recruit.
