Believe me, I wouldn't mind at all if we were hated out of pure jealousy for our success! But how can anyone hate a team that has been as inconsistent and that has had as little success as we have had over the years. I can see how people hate the Yankees, the Patriots, the Seahawks. But who hates the Mets, the Jets or the Bills?

Where to begin. Responding to these nitwits is akin to landing a seafood dinner by firing a shotgun into a fish barrel.

As always Providence fans are directly in the middle of this discussion. This alone disqualifies a thread on poor behavior and sportsmanship from ever to be taken seriously.

It isn't as if Cooley recruits only from a pool of kids who just missed out on West Point. He has more than pushed the envelope in order to get a kid.

Not to mention, Cooley is one of the biggest sore losers. His post game handshakes and demeanor can make one think he is waiting to see his latex-glove ready proctologist. Some shining example he sets.

Then, lest we forget the most loud mouthed and feeble minded of all BE fans, past and present, Providence fans. This is the same group that likes to reach out and touch opponents, talk more sh*t that can fit in Fresh Kills landfill, and think they are clever doing it.

Providence fans are a who's who of the worst sports fans. They are part small town New England sports fanaticism masking as big city adults, and part less athletic little brother complex (towards BC and UConn).
 
Would rather be hated than irrelevant. Guess we're lucky to be both.
 
The providence fans had a little too much to drink Saturday at MSG when my friend Big Rocco kindly told them that if they don't pipe down they'd need assistance from the paramedics leaving the Garden. The remainder of the game was very enjoyable.
 
I haven't posted in years...... Recently I've found our current program and the future to show little to no promise.

Based on the these facts, I have little tolerance for poor behavior and a lack of sportsmanship.... CO should be forced to apologize, this is not the first time he has been frustrated, which IMO is due to the fact that he has zero offensive abilities (the moment he starts to dribble, I begin to cringe, every time).

Sorry if some of you think this is negative, but as a alumni and fan, I think this program needs to start from ground zero. We need a new staff that will build a fundamentally sound program, which looks for college basketball players that can shoot, not players that are looking past college to a professional career. Furthermore, we need a coach that exhibits a high degree of ability, which is documented by results, not by what is said.

BTW, I'm just a fan with little knowledge, but do we actually run plays?

First we have to win a BE tourney game. Which ,if Im not mistaken ,is something we have not done w Lavins highly rated players. I wish we were the UCONN of the new BE.

Gee, ya know, I just don't see us as a hated program. First of all, the posters who said that hated usually has an ingredient of success are correct. Fans usually don't hate a program that they regularly beat. Our program has been merely competitive over the past 5 seasons - a radical improvement over the prior regime, but not good enough to strike fear into opposition.

Secondly, our fans are for the most part, sedate, polite, and absent. Our home court advantage hardly exists.

Thirdly, to bring this up following a vicious hit by Obekpa, that came out of the blue, is a little bit knee jerk. Harrison mostly smiles on the court. Greene also. Jordan doesn't strut, provoke, jaw, anything. Branch is a mouse in that regard. Pointer we know has had his moments over time, but game to game, isn't a problem. And as far as CO, there are far worst cheap shot, big mouth, trash talking agitators.

Don't buy this one bit. Let's win a little, see out student fans go over the top a little. Let them travel far and wide with the team, in large, brash contingent, and take over some other teams home for a night. The best we can do now is hold our own on our home court when the opposition warrants fans - students and others - to come out in decent numbers.
 
As to how hated a program we are let's not forget to add in the self hate! :silly:

When we start questioning individuals over their thank yous, I think that's a little over the top.

Not that I care, but it would be nice limit profanity here to a minimum, and yes, "LMFAO" is profane.
