I just wanted to thank Mike Zaun and his two buddy’s for putting together such an amazing event at NYC Local yesterday it was truly something special . I know Mike takes a lot of heat on here for some of his some of his posts , but he is a great individual , one of the nicest guys you could ever meet , and is a hardcore St. John’s basketball fan. For Mike and his two friends to take their time out to find a location (after talking to muliptile bars in the area) , and to come out of pocket with their own money to set that pre game party up , just goes to show how much love they have for the program .

Sometimes I think I’m the only hardcore fan, I know there are a lot on this site because I am on here every 5 minutes of my life , but I have only gotten to meet a couple of fans on this site . Yesterday felt like home . Yes the wings were soooo good , 3$ drafts from 1-4pm was great , but it was the St. John’s fans that I got to meet , from all ages , that really made my day . Getting to know people I have never met and share the same passion as me was one of the greatest feelings ever . I’ve gotten kicked out of MSG 3 times , actually got kicked out of stout with 1 minute left in the game last night when we switched locations when the game started , because that’s how hard I go from my johnnies .

The St. John’s gear that I saw was fantastic . Eric Barkley , Felipe Lopez , artest Jersey’s , custom made shirts , hats that said queens and NYC on them , exclusive scarfs just some jaw dropping apparel . If Mike sets another pre game party , and he told me he will do one for the big east tournament , I really urge you to go . The buzz in the city is back for our johnnies so having an event like that is just what we need . Mike I thank you so much words can’t express how I felt yesterday , you and your two friends are like over night celebrities .

Beating nova yesterday after being down 19 , MSG sold out , Mike Zaun setting up this amazing pre game party where I got to meet all these wonderful St. John’s fans , it truly was one of the greatest days of my life . Let’s keep this going , the season is just getting started ;)

St. John’s I love you , rise to the top baby !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He also has his own fan site now which I won't publicize here but I think he already demoted Beast for being overly positive.:p

Great to hear! You could argue that in many ways Mike Zaun is a true representation of what this site is all about (although I’d defer to Paul to firmly define it). Great job

Thanks for the post...me and my friend run Mullin's Maniacs and the other guy we were with was a college friend who stopped by. I joked that he is our intern to break his balls haha. We had such a great time organizing everything and we were a bit nervous since it was the first legit meetup with real potential of a big crowd. A few guys showed up 10 minutes early (kudos!) and then it took a little while to get going and the manager kind of gave me a look almost as if to say "well...where's your group?!". Thankfully my SJ fam started trickling in and not making me look so stupid...in fact the bar was totally packed to the max because of SJ fans and the manager pulled me aside to thank me and they got some great business. We even got the security guard some wings and he drew the tickets for our raffles. He bet on the game and had us losing (though he did seem to be rooting for us), so I came back after the game to see his face...priceless! The staff was very happy and wants us back.

We're all about giving back to the fans, uniting everyone, having a great time, and supporting the program. We had such a blast meeting everyone and I had several fans complimenting the event saying everyone felt like family and had a blast. We had a fan win a Warriors Mullin jersey and someone who knows Mullin contacted me to ask if I wanted it signed so I gave him the guy's contact info to get in touch with him. That's what it's all about! We also raffled off an authentic card holding a piece of one of Lou's actual sweaters, a Mullin autographed card, and a Jackson autographed card. There were a few Nova fans and one came up to me to tell me it was a cool meetup even being a Nova fan. He wasn't from the area and it was his first time in the city. He's a veteran and recently got home from overseas. The least I could do was give the guy a bracelet to get the beer deals. All in all, a raging success not because of us, but because of the awesome SJ fanbase. We really have a huge base out there...sometimes we feel lonely especially when the team hits a skid, but it feels very comforting knowing there's a huge SJ fam out there! Thanks again to everyone who came out, we really appreciate it. Didn't make it to the game unfortunately, but watched at a few bars. Obviously I was disgusted by the 1st half and totally shocked by the massive comeback. Unreal game. Unreal day. Won't forget it! Go Johnnies!

I didn't go to the event, but awesome to hear. Mike is MullinMayhem/Hooper on Holy Land right? Maybe a bit over-dramatic at times (lol), but overall a great fan. We need to take advantage of this time when we're on the upswing, and what Mike did really helps build a community.

Which when was Zaun? The energetic lunatic with the chants toward the end, or the low key softer spoken guy inviting everyone to stout for the start?

Great job. Was a lot of fun.

Zaun and his partners did a great job. If anything, the event was so popular, that LOCAL was too small for it. I know it's tough, but if we get the three seed in the Big East Tournament, it would be great if he could do something in between the day and night quarterfinal sessions (it's hard that week, I know).

I already told him this, but a special thank you for getting non-spicy Chicken Wings. If it had been spicy, I would have had to have paid for food inside MSG, and we know how much that would have set me back.

As an aside, I also want to thank St. John's and/or MSG, for going the extra mile during the Autism Awareness weekend. The staff wore the pins like everybody else, but I also thought it was great, that the Special Olympics team got to scrimmage at halftime. That's stepping up to the plate, IMO.

Zaun, great job. Was out of town this past weekend unfortunately, otherwise I would’ve loved to stop by.

I’ll be there this Saturday. I went to the seton hall game with my dad in NJ. Some serious payback is in order after witnessing that bs in person. Go johnnies

Kudos to Mike and Mullin'sManiacs for organizing that event. It was nice talking to SigEpSJU09 as well. It was nice to see other SJU fans that have stuck with this program through the dark days. It would be so much more enjoyable once we start consistently making the tournament.

I was there with of a group of 8 and had a great time. I even won the signed Mullin card!!! One of the women in our group even started playing drinking games with some of the younger fans that were there. Great Job! See you at the next event
