This may be a huge longshot lol, but has anyone else here ever played the video game called "The Last of Us". I had never played it before, and just finished it. And wow, what an emotional ride. Probably the greatest gaming experience i have ever had. I dont know if anyone else on here plays video games, but you never know until you ask i guess

Or I’m just posting things like this to get people off the scent ;)

In all seriousness, if anyone happens to have a PlayStation, I strongly recommend you pick this game up. It plays like a movie, and the writing is just astounding.

At some point on of his books he had optioned it and they had Jame Franco to play the lead. Everything fell through. That biz is rough. Somehow he got involved writing stories for video games. Apparently there is a lot of money in it and now he is doing consulting work with bunch of euro companies helping them develop games. He loves it

It’s funny mike, that’s acrually a huge dream of mine. I love story based video games. Just like movies, they can bring you to an entirely different place, but with video games, you get so much more immersed into the world, and if the writing is done right, the characters start to feel so real.

I’m a writer, and I write all the time, and being able to write for video games would be an amazing thing. Something I truly love. And you’re right, the last couple of years especially, the video game industry is growing to a crazy level

I’ve never heard of this but will check it out. Been squeezing in some Red Dead Redemption in between diaper changes. Not sure if you’ve picked that up yet Jack but definitely a very long winded story mode. Doesn’t match GTA quality but still very good.

I’m not a fan of newer video games. My wife bought me a Nintendo switch which I play all the time. I love they rolled out the original Nintendo games. I just finished Metroid. I finished Zelda and Mario. Next up is the Sega games including Sonic and Altered Beast. I’m a simple guy.

My son mostly plays sports video games but I will let him know about it.

Same here but still on fifa 18. Is 19 worth buying?

The last of us actually came out a couple years ago. And they have a remastered edition on the PlayStation store for 20 bucks. It’s a shame, around Black Friday it was 6 dollars and that’s when I got it. But it’s back up to 20.

Andrew I don’t know how old your son is but it is a pretty gruesome game. But if he’s old enough he’d probably love it.

sirvoo my roommate has Red Dead and I watch him play all the time. It seems fun but i haven’t played it myself. I’m an Xbox owner, and my roommate has a PlayStation. He has a girlfriend now and he’s always over at her house, so I’ve been using his PlayStation a lot playing the games that are exclusive to PS so I’ve never been able to play them on Xbox.

Games like The Last of Us, the Uncharted series, horizon zero dawn. All fun. But the last of us was on another level. Definitely the best exclusive PlayStation has in my opinion.

Gman, my mom got me a switch for Christmas last year and I love it. Super Mario Odyssey was actually one of the most enjoyable games I’ve ever played. But Zelda, I just couldn’t get into it for some reason. But I got Mario party this fall and that’s a fun game to play at college with friends. Super smash just came out which is a big deal for a lot of gamers but I don’t think I’m gonna get it until Christmas. I’m very lucky to have a mother who takes Christmas very seriously. I’m 21 and my sisters are 24 and 14 but she still gets us a lot of stuff. I asked for smash so I’ll probably get it then

Life was so much simpler back in these days :)

No but yes

I only play career mode and it's frustrating this year. But if you want the updated roster you have to have 19. So take my money

I will give in eventually and buy it. Always play manager mode and start with some division 3 team in England. Such a pain in the ass but fun to build a team from scratch.

That was the first game I played when I got my PS4. You're right about it being one of the best stories in any video game. I believe a sequel is in the works too.

I'd have thought I'd be addicted to video games since I first touched a keyboard in 1978 and yearned to write a more accurate and realistic version of stratomatic baseball. I even laid out the basis for a spec. I never got around to that but my crazy addiction to computers changed my career and life.

Now my addiction is my mobile device but watching what seems like every other fan on his mobile at games, stop light, on planes, lines, even in church, I'm not alone.

Video games? Sorry, my other addictions wont allow it.

I started playing Strat baseball when I was like 8. Played in some serious 20 man leagues in my early 20's. Just curious what you planned on changing to make it more realistic? They did a mighty fine job of making it quite accurate in my opinion.

I'm 29, so I play these newer games lol. I have PS4 and Switch. Got Last of Us a few years ago and loved it. Game kept me hooked from start to finish which rarely happens.

Currently addicted to Smash Bros for Switch.

Well, today you would call it predictive analytics. My goal would have been to analyze a ton of statistical data, both offensive and defensive, and create digital profiles of each player. Think of a shortstop. He may have range or not, possess a strong arm from the hole, or statistically be superior at turning double plays. Each ballpark has dimensions that could favor one player over another based on where he hits the ball and how far. Some players are better at hitting behind the runner, and as a result when you put runners in motion the hole widens with a right handed batter up and a righty hitter to punch a ball through the space vacated by the infielder covering second. That kind of stuff - enormous amounts of data being analyzed to create realistic results.

Once that is done, players would be able to zone pitches to hit based on type of pitch and location, and success would be based on that. all in all baseball has an incredible number of reliable data points that could have resulted in a greatly improved logical game.

I bought Fifa and barely play it. I really regret wasting money on NBA2K18. The game is either way too easy or way too hard.
