The Inevitable Gets One Step Closer

In the article they state this won't affect the NCAA Basketball Tournament, except that they'll be able to offer their student athletes a more comprehensive benefits package, but besides that it'll be an even playing field.

Just lies and anyone with half a brain knows it - posturing prior to the inevitable.

Was expecting some real news like they were starting automatic deposit or providing unlimted credit cards.

Schools like Kentucky and Carolina already have the above perks along with bogus summer classes. The benefits these tax payer supported bloated athletic departments want to give are more perks than the bright scholars that actually go to class. It is the American way in college with two classes of students:
those that go for an education and those that go to major in playing sports with those playing sports getting all the perks and most of the pussy. In the end, 98% of those that majored in gym will be selling shoes like Bundy while the actual academic studs will be teachers, lawyers and bankers who actually make endowment contributions. If I were a straight A student at Uk or Texas I would sue the universities in a class action demanding equal opportunity denied to non-athletes.
BTW, in college basketball these days these extra perks mean crap since the top players see themselves gone in two years and could give a crap about their degree (see Steve Masielli).

Speaking of Steve Masiello, he just completed his degree at Kentucky. Only cost him a couple million dollars. :)

How did he complete that degree in a month? Hmmmm...

At Kentucky "academic fraud" is a 5 week special course offered to all former athletes. UK is ahead of the curve in this area and will claim to rival Harvard in academics once they move to D4 to keep attracting the best and brightest students. As for Masiello, he already has his agent scouting future jobs now that he has his sheepskin. BTW, at Kentucky, they actually use real sheepskin when printing the degrees. Sheep farmers love UK.

I have a sheepskin diploma from SJU, but that was a few years ago. I expect we are more considerate of the animals in this current PC world. But, what about the trees that give their lives to paper diplomas? Someone with time on their hands should undertake that exciting journey to create E-diplomas or text diplomas. MY sheepskin is somewhere in the attic.

Wow I bet if he knew it would be so easy, he wouldn't have lied all these years. Another guy cut out of the Calipari cloth
