"There's a fog upon L.A. / And my friends have lost their way."
The magical mystery tour is almost over. The nightmare season most predicted almost at end. My friends on redmen.com and Johnny Jungle have taken out their daggers and the poison is spreading through their veins.
It was a good year for this old St. John's veteran to be relegated to rookie board. Karma?
One of the top 4 coaches in the Big East schooled Chris Mullin to an historic St. John's basketball loss. From appearances it seems that the St. John's game plan, as devised by Greg St. Jean no doubt was to lay off the Blue Jay shooters. It worked perfectly! Sadly, Chris Mullin went Dom Pointer/Chris Obekpa/Jayson Williams postal at the point where St. John's had been out of the game since tip off. One too many f words spewed in America's conservative heartland! Our rookie coach's behavior would have gotten him relegated to the Rookie Forum on redmen.com legend or no legend. I would have enjoyed his company as much as I did in the Brooklyn bars we haunted together 30 years ago. To say everyone stunk would be an insult to skunks. I am sure some will find some praise for Christian Jones but not I. His points were an anomaly whereas he sucks most times his little hands touch the basketball. Thanks but not thanks Chris but a 41 point annihilation gets you just a blue star kid.
Creighton showed us you don't need a big guard lineup to ass whip a slow as shit defensive opponent. Their 5'10 point guard ran past Mussini and Ellison at will. Speaking of our future 3 point specialist, the month of February has not been kind to Mussini. Over the past 8 games Musso has shot an abysmal. 19% from two and .20% from three. Ellison, on the other hand, has shot .46% from both 2 and 3. At the beginning of the season Mussini was listed as 6'1 and weighing 155. My guess is he is down to 145 now and his only value imo is using him to shoot technicals as the rest of the team sucks at the easiest part of the game.
As for Blue Jay Way, many of you that are older than Jack Williams will remember that George Harrison wrote this song in two hours while waiting for friends lost on the foggy road leading to his Hollywood Hills rental. The song eerily reminds me of early Weasles. May our basketball program emerge from its fog sooner rather than later.
