I would appreciate if someone would explain the format of the Big East Tournament.

Does everyone qualify?

Which teams get first wound byes?

Thanks

can you imagine only one day session after the recent years with multiple day night doubleheaders, the bars and restaurants around the Garden must hate this new format.

The bars and the restaurants are just fine. Now that the construction is over the Garden again takes its place as the busiest arena in the country and they will continue to reap the benefits. A couple games is a blip on the radar for them

Of course this will change from now until the end of the year, but if the tournament started today, it would look like this:

Wednesday (opening round)

#7 Georgetown VS #10 Butler

#8 Seton Hall vs #9 DePaul

Thursday (quarterfinals)

#1 Creighton VS Seton Hall/DePaul

#2 Nova VS GTOWN/Butler

#3 Xavier VS #6 Providence

#4 Marquette VS #5 St John's

This wouldn't happen if Bloomberg was still Mayor..

Have the games sold out yet though?

George Willis in the Post made that point today, that the local bars/restaurants are upset there is only 1 day session. Not sure how accurate that is.

There are enough alcoholics for them the other 364 days of the year.

This is not an easy conference to win...wow. Barring any major upsets, if you finish THIRD in the conference you have to play a bubble team round one, a top ten RPI team round two, and a top Ten RPI team in the Championship.

The BE gets underestimated because we don't have the Marque names at the top. But this is a deep conference top to bottom. Take DePaul and Butler out of the equation everyone else is tough.
