I had the good fortune of going to all the games this week (not going tonight though) and here are the awards I would give out based on my own personal observations.
Best Fan Support - Creighton. Hands down they are the new UConn but they are more polite, at least for now.
Runner Up - Villanova
Best Student Showing - Xavier. Not a lot of fans but the area behind their pep band was packed. Can't remember
the last time I saw so many bodies and faces painted. Yes I did see that female student lol.
Runner Up - Providence. Not sure many here would argue with that.
Worst Student Showing - DePaul, can you blame them?
Runner Up - St. John's & Seton Hall tie for this one. Not much that hasn't already been said.
Best Band - DePaul. Come on, you know you enjoyed their version of "Can't Hold Us" by Macklemore.
Best Cheerleading Squad - Seton Hall. I'm only giving it to them b/c they had that one guy who was able to hit the Garden ceiling with a t shirt, during the t-shirt toss of the PC-Seton Hall game. The kid had a cannon.
Best Mascot - Butler. No not the costume mascot, the actual dog they had walking on the floor during the timeouts.
Best Dance Team - St. John's. I may be biased here but none of the other schools left the impression that the Miami or Louisville teams used to leave. ; )
Best Moment - Our section cheering and applauding the NC State win over Syracuse which we got to see one the monitors that they have in the 200s section of the Garden.
And finally, to all those ACC/Syracuse fans who keep saying that no one will show up to the Big East Tournament now that Syracuse and UConn are gone, below is a picture I took during the Seton Hall - PC game. I think we are going to be just fine.
