The Big East continues search for Commissioner

I doubt there is a "new wish list" of candidates. These guys have been candidates all along and Gavitt has probably never been out of it like Bladshun claimed.

I don't know much about the wnba president, but the three mentioned seem pretty solid. Gavitt or the big10 deputy would be pretty safe hires. Both seem to know what they're doing.
 
I am sure there must be a reason for the new league moving so slowly in hiring a commish. I think it would be in our best interest to get a new person in place as soon as possible so they can start setting up the new conference, getting offices, hiring people and anything else that has to be done to get us up and running.

If so, I think it is a great choice. He has one thing that none of the other candidates have, which is that The Big East is his family legacy. Competent choice who will bleed for the league, not just represent it.
 
If its Gavitt I think that's a great choice. But, just to generate some conversation; do you guys think any of the blame from the Tranghese-Marinatto eras attaches to Gavitt?

I mean the guy was their right-hand-man when a lot of the expansion decisions were being made right? And he was sitting in the BE offices as the Big10 and then Pac12 started their own networks and the BE did nothing, right?

Personally, I place most of the blame for those decisions with the school presidents - but I think it's a fair question to ask.

He ran the NCAA tournament the last two years...

More than anything else though I think he's proven he's good at taking orders from the Presidents. And that's what they want.

I don't like the fact that he was on board when the Big East got crushed by the other conferences, but I really have no idea what his involvement was nor do I have any idea what kind of power he wielded.

I love his connection to the conference through his father. Like someone posted earlier, I think he will bleed for the conference.
 
the idea is to make the other guys bleed. the conference has bled enough.

there are numerous posters who bleed for st john's. how many would you make athletic director?
