Terrance Mullin / Recovery On The Court

I spoke to Terrance the other night at the Big East tournament pre game at Stout. He lives in Belle Harbor, and told me he coaches two CYO teams at St. Francis de Sales. We chatted about the rivalry my parish (St. Mary Gate of Heaven in Ozone Park) had with de Sales. He said it still is a great rivalry, and they had played them recently. When I remarked that St. Francis de Sales always had great teams, he joked that up to a point they are great, but then the kids stop growing. The Rocakways are legendary for tough Irish basketball players, and I guess the same is true today.

If JSJ or anyone can post an address to send a check I'd be interested.

Thanks for this post.

Hey, help me out here. I played a couple of seasons of senior level CYO, and we had some epic games vs. St. Francis de Sales. One season, around 1974 we had a terrific team, we Rob Misevicious (6'9-Power, Providence) at high post center, Richie (Reed) Addison (6'6 Adams, texas) at low post center, Glen Kolonics (6'3 Power, Catholic U) and Gary Cain (6'0 Adams, unsure), and a few others. We coulldn't beat deSales with any regularity, who had a great shooter, a dark haired, fair skinned, Irish guard (really good description, huh?) who might have been named Fitzgerald or Fitzpatrick. I'm thinking he had to have played college ball, or at least been very good at HS level.

Glen Kolonics, used to play in the summer with him. Those are all familiar names but I think you guys were a little older then I am. Blasts from the past.

Where are you from? PM me. I believe Kolonics was once in the top 5 in the nation in scoring at Catholic U. at about 25 a game (D3 I believe). If you remember, he shot a jumper almost flat footed, elevating slightly. He could really get off the floor for a guy his size though, and I suspect that the prior sentence had a lot to do with Kolonics doing everything effortlessly most of the time, almost conserving energy. The word back then was that Notre Dame wanted him badly, but when reports surfaced regarding heavy alcohol use, they went instead with a guard from Mater Christi.
