Tariq Owens Article

Notice stretch four reference. Been saying for a while he us not a center. Hopefully he has that mid range stroke noted. As others have said he should help with rebounding in spots & looks like he passes well based on only one outing of course.

One thing that I didn't like seeing at the tip off was him receiving the ball at the top of the key and shuffling his feet. C. Jones did this and it drove me nuts.

Am hoping Owens can be a middleground between Sima and Yawke. Have little doubt he'll see time in traditional lineups with each of them on the floor, but hoping he can be a 4.5 when we aren't going big (Sima) or small (Yawke). There are going to be easy points available for our bigs if they beat their man to the other rim, and seems like Owens could excel here. Gets up and down, long, and has some springs.

What I like about this team early is that for a team with this much inexperience, there is a nice mix of 30+ MPG core talent and guys who can fill specific roles. Think Owens can be a real value add with respect to the latter, 10+ high-energy minutes a game.

He hardly played during his freshman year at Tennessee
I do not have high expectations for him this year
He needs time to gain more experience and develop his skills
I am hoping that he can be a reasonably productive player next year

He was an absolute toothpick his fr. year. He is stronger and gained exp his redshirt year. Not saying he will be a star, but a contributor. Seems to play w a lot of energy, and although didn't show much offensively, got a ton of rebounds in little time against Baruch.

Will say it again I only want him to play D and Board. I would much rather Lovett, Ponds, Mussini, Bashir, Richard F or Yakwe be trying to score than Owens. Other than Yakwe they are all scorers and should be the players on the floor taking the shots.
