Hello all just went to the CA box office to buy a student ticket for tomorrow but the university has sold out of their allotment. I will probably have to go to the MSG box office for a ticket but didn't want to leave it to chance and get left out of a student seat. Was wondering if anyone had an extra student ticket for tomorrow or a ticket that will not be used, I will buy the ticket from you.  The Good thing is I was able to get a ticket for Friday's game!

Just curious- i'm not a student-- but how much does the school charge the students for a game at MSG?

Don't want to hijack the thread but have a quick seating question regarding Carnesecca. I am looking to purchase tix for Tuesday's game and can't remember how the rows work...If i remember AA is the first row courtside? and then A is first row of the second section up? If anyone here is looking to sell 3-4 tix for Tuesday let me know! Thanks Guys

for this game it's 5. but for all other msg games its 10. carnesecca games are 5 dollars.

This game is unique and its not our so with the limited assortment I think they didn't want to be embarrassed and not get rid of the allotment. I recall last time we played in this at MSG we played Marquette and it was empty. Dickie V threw some barbs our way.

I have a ticket for the double-header on thursday. Section 8, 11 rows off the court under the 8th ave basket. Price $65. call me at 631-495-6731 if interested.

I'm actually shocked they sold out the student allotment. The marketing for student tickets was horrendously poor for this event. There was a message on the scoreboard in very small print at the St. Mary's exhibition game that wasn't announced over the PA system and that was the only mention of student tickets being on sale that I have seen. I think I know why they didn't market it too much but I won't get into that.

Also I looked on StubHub and there are 5 seats for sale in row 1 of section 7 (where the students are) and 6 seats for sale in row 2. Not sure how or why those seats are available.

But I bet their student allotment was VERY small. I'm thinking one small strip section behind the basket.

Yea I think we got the first few rows in section 7.

If there's regular Joe's there tomorrow in those seats I'm gonna be livid. I got section 7 row 1 from the CA box office as did my friend, so this is either the school putting tickets on stubhub to profit or a group of students went to pick up tickets together with the intent to resell them. If it's not all students there tomorrow night I'm going straight to Monasch's office Friday as well as anyone else I know in the administration, and I'd like you to come with me. Also with regards to your previous comment I know where you're going with that and I'm fully expecting it to be like the BET last year.

Also, the 4 courtside sections behind the basket are now all the same size as opposed to pre-renovations when the 2 sections in the middle were larger and the 2 sections on the end were smaller

it's probably fairweather fan students who want to make money rather than attending a to game a create a true home atmosphere sleaveless guy. are students in section 7 only?

As we all know, students have been selling student seats on Stubhub for quite some time now. The way to end that is to stamp those tickets as STUDENT TICKETS, STUDENT ID REQUIRED, which would render them worthless to anyone but a student. Nothing is more aggravating than seeing fans of the opposition sitting in our student sections.

The easiest way to handle it is just set up a table in the MSG lobby and first come, first serve for student tickets if you have season tickets and you need your ID. That way people who want to sit together can get there at the same time and sit together and the seats would have the required seat number and section on them. Also, noone would be able to re-sell them. It's makes too much sense for St. John's to do that though.

Well any student that bought tickets for this had to fill out a form and it had your name and seat number on it, so if there's regular Joe's in those seats I'm writing the seat numbers in my phone and bringing it to Monasch/the ticket office/whoever because I'm so tired of students doing this

To comment on this, I am not a student, but as a diehard SJU fan it also irks me. Granted, I am young enough to sit in the student section, and while I would not do that because I am not a student and never attended SJU (friends give me crap as I went for the pastures of NYC for grad school over SJU), I would wear red and be on my feet the whole game in that section. It bothers me when my Cuse fan friends etc say things about their student section and ours. I want so badly for the whole sections behind both hoops to just be a sea of red with students going nuts at the Garden. As a non student fan in my mid 20s, I truly appreciate the students like Jhansboro (I think I have figured out who you are from watching and going to games) who care.

My two cents 1) As I was a student at Cuse last year, I bought season tickets on my student id card, and every game you swipe your card and get a bracelet (always a different color) and they check. You could never get into the student section their if you weren't a student without season tickets. Granted they have enough kids to do it. But for games where they dont fill it up, if you use your student ID with a non season ticket ID card then they give you the bracelet (makes sense). 2) At my college, I went to a small d3 school with just d1 hockey, you had to show your student id to get into the student section and it was first come first serve the night of the game. System worked great. And to iterate all of your points, my first 2 years NOONE came to a game because we were terrible but I love hockey and went to every home game in empty student sections. By my junior year we were good (now were actually a national power) and the student section was mobbed, I once didn't get into a game at like 6:30 against our rival my senior year and I was fuming so I know about fairweather fans.

I will be there tomorrow in 112, very excited to go, and I will be at mostly every Garden game this year.

They do that at Carnesecca with the ID's and season tickets but it's impossible to do at MSG because the MSG ushers are in control, not STJ personnel.

Well I just got some info about this situation from a friend who graduated a few years ago and is now a ticket broker. I just looked on stubhub and there's 4 seats together in row 1 and 6 seats together in row 2 of our section. He told me he knows who's selling those tickets, and that the guy paid off some students to get the tickets for him. The obvious way to prevent stuff like this is to do what was previously suggested, things like showing up and swiping your stormcard at MSG and they give you your ticket there, even though that would prevent me and some other diehards from bringing friends who don't attend St. John's (my gf comes to games all the time when she's not working and stands and goes crazy all game, as do my friends who go to a few games a year with me) though that's something I'm willing to sacrifice if it meant having a real student section there. My friend did suggest however that I contact an administrator in the ticket office and tell them to contact stubhub and tell them not to sell tickets in the sections designated for students. He said a lot of schools do this including UNC and Kentucky. There's obviously ways around this with ebay, craigslist, and the countless broker websites now, however it's a start and I'm gonna email Monasch tomorrow to set up a meeting and I'll also be meeting with a few others in the administration tomorrow before I leave for the city.

I was extremely excited for this game but seeing 10 tickets for the first 2 rows being sold on stubhub right now just hampered that enthusiasm a ton because i know exactly what it's gonna be like down there tomorrow and I know I'm not gonna be happy.
