Stout reception

Hey, this is a shout out to St. John's athletic department for organizing a reception at Stout before the game.

I expected a small turnout, and a chance to chat with some Redmen.com faithful. Instead the place was mobbed with about 150-200 redmen fans. The room had a tournament atmosphere, lots of energy. Tarik Turner, Billy Schaeffer, Frank Alagia, and Terrence Mullin were there. Got a chance to speak with each except Alagia who I've met before - all really great guys. They all carry themselves like peer alumni who are fans of the program, and not like elite athletes above it all.

It brought back a feeling of what the program used to be, is becoming, and what will be. There are a lot of dormant St John's fans around the city - alumnus and non-alumnus - and they will come back in force when we return to prominence. It was nice to play in a garden that was 3/4 full - even if a Big East game lacked the energy because at least 2/3 of the crowd had no rooting interest in Nova or St. Johhs. Not that we had a lot to root about anyways.

Thanks to Kevin Barry this season who continues to do a great job representing the university in his capacity. I've joked with him that now that Rob Wile's salary is public, I'm going to write FH and demand Kevin gets paid 1/2 that at amount.

Kevin is the best. He is my go to guy with anything red white or pretty much everything else even if it doesnt fall under his domain.

He is definitely a huge asset to the school and to us alumni and with all the bad publicity the school has had lately they should know about the great one's and that's Kevin

The R&W team is second to none !!!

NO ONE better than Ann Marie, Mary Pat, Liz, Gemana, Kevin and Rino !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kudo's, as well, to St. John's Legend's Billy and Mel !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The event was great! A lot of young faces which is great to see. Hopefully R/W can cater to younger alumni (late 20's-30's)
Events like the one at Stout are very much needed.

Kevin and Liz for AD in the future!

I was there too and it was packed, almost too packed for that room size. Waitresses did a good job serving and the sliders were endless. Even won the raffle for the autographed "100 Years of St. John's" book. :)

Where was the reception? Upstairs? I was there that night in the basement bar on the right, but the bottom floor main bar was reserved for a Nova recption. I was looking for the SJU setup but i could not find it.

main level if you walked all the way to the back then at the end you make a right. There is a private room back there

You should have jsut asked anyone who worked there.

ahhh I went right downstairs as soon as I walked in. Thats my go to move the side pocket bar on the right is usually less crowded. I would have asked where the SJU section was but i was only able to get there at 6:15 and was meeting some family rooting for Nova and ND. Good to know it was a great time though, I will look out for these in the future.
