Chalk it up to college students I guess, but I find it a little ridiculous that the fans would storm the field after beating #1 Clemson considering
A) they’re the most storied program in college football (and probably athletics overall)
B) they were the #4 team in the country going into the game
C) the best player in college was in the sidelines

Between that and the people going out to celebrate after Biden won it was Super Seedier Saturday . Wonder how many new corona cases pop up from these in the next week

Of course college fans (basketball or football) storm the field or court when at their home field their team beats the No. 1 team. Hell, in years past we’ve had posters on this very Board complain that MSG security would not let the students in the court after we upset a few teams including Duke.

Not condoning the actions (especially during COVID) but it has been a long time since ND has won a game of this magnitude or beat a No. 1, despite their “storied” past and history.

Earlier this decade they lost to Bama by almost 30 points for the National Championship and similarly lost to eventual National Champions Clemson two years ago in the first round of the College Football playoffs.

It doesn’t matter who was on or not on the field. No.1 went down. Were they not supposed to celebrate a victory (again not condoning the storming of the field) because Lawrence didn’t play?

You had over 126,000 cases today. The last 3 days in the US have been horrible in terms of confirmed cases with record numbers each day. It is more than just college students not following the rules. As MJM pointed out there have been many a potential super spreader events the past few days. I pray the cases and deaths do not go up even further.

I was joking with Mike because he mentioned 46(?), and politics are off limits. I agree with him about the super spreader event situation. Amazing how our elected officials are extremely selective in which super spreader events they chose to condemn, and which they chose to remain silent about or even condone, in some cases

Exactly SJU85, last time ND beat #1 was 1993, 27 years ago. Because of this gd virus everything fun that was has to come to an end? We're not allowed to celebrate our teams big win? These are college kids not little children where they don't know any better, each adult should be able to make their decision and know the possible consequence of their action, which is getting infected. Should be up to them if they think it's worth it or not. Big government loves that power of dictating what you can and can't do.

Me personally, this has been the worst year in my life, I'm waiting for that moment to celebrate something and just let loose like never before. So, if I was there would I stormed the field and celebrated? HELLS FREAKING YEAH I WOULD HAVE.
And without any regret.

By the way we here to the north are not doing much better as we too had a record number of cases this weekend notwithstanding that our two largest provinces are in lockdown. So please note that my prior post was not meant as a criticism in any way.

No, he is just stating facts. No matter how you feel politically. you have to use common sense. The only way I would have been on the streets would have been if MJMaher and Monte were the winners of this election, LMAO.

"Maher for Mayor" ? Has a nice ring to it.

I was at a wake this weekend. Everyone wore a mask, but there wasn't any social distancing, and there were about 50 people there.

As an ND fan for almost 60 years, I wish I would have been there. Although at my age, by the time I limped to the field everyone would have already left.

Agreed! ND has lost 10 consecutive battles against top 5 teams when they are in the top 5, and were 1-19 in those contests in the last 20, they’re last such win being against FSU in 1993 the day college game day was born. Everyone says they can’t compete with the bamas and Clemson’s of the world. Book eventually had his way with the Clemson D and the ND D had their way with Etienne. You’re damn right they should celebrate (though I agree that during covid times storming the field is probably not the best way to do that).

They’ll have to play a very close game at least against Clemson in acc title game with Lawrence to make playoff, but for now they at least proved they belong which they haven’t done against a top team in a long time.

I don't care about lawrence, clemson put 40pnts on nd defense and ND still won. They won't get much more than 40 with Lawrence
