Storm Marketing

Greetings. Just wanted to say a few words on behalf of Storm Marketing. For those that don't know us, we are a company founded by four alumni focused on providing NIL opportunities to St. John's University student athletes. The recent Supreme Court decision allowing college athletes to profit off their name, image, and likeness has changed the landscape of college sports. We remain committed to enhancing the opportunities for our student athletes, while helping local businesses explore marketing and networking opportunities in the new NIL world.

Whether you are a business owner or just a fan of the program, there are plenty of ways to get involved and help the student athletes at St. John's.

After a successful inaugural event earlier this month, we have a number of exciting plans on the horizon. We'll keep you informed here and kindly ask for your support.

Check out www.stormmarketingny.com for more info and let us know if you have any questions.

As Louie once said, "it's all about the players". Cheers!

Welcome & thanks for the efforts.

From what you know, how are out NIL's currently stacking up vs. others? Do you view it as a competitive advantage yet or see it as a potential game changer for program ?

That's a great question. In just three months we have been able to give out or help facilitate more than fifteen deals for the men's basketball team. There are other deals in the pipeline and we will be announcing those once they're finalized. We are also interested exploring deals for some of the other athletic programs.

When you look at some of the NIL deals that have been given to top recruits, the numbers are mind-boggling. At this point, we simply can't compete with the $3.4 million deal given to Arch Manning. Obviously that's the goal. We want to remain competitive, give out larger and more impactful deals, and keep our student athletes here until they either graduate or decide to go pro. But we cannot do it without increased support from our fan base. I'd be happy to go into more specific detail offline.

Given the current landscape of college sports, NIL is an absolute gamechanger. That's why we started the company. We want SJU to be competitive in this space. While NIL cannot be used to induce recruits, I can guarantee you it's something recruits consider when selecting a program. They want to know what opportunities other players have received in the past. There are even recruiting websites that (loosely) track the NIL deals given out to players (https://www.on3.com/nil/deals/). NIL is here, it's not going anywhere, and simply put, every fan base has two options: Be competitive in the space in the hopes of attracting top talent or get left behind.

If anyone has any questions about what we do or thoughts about how we can help improve the quality of life for our student athletes, we would be happy to hold a Zoom call or host a Happy Hour. Despite the ups and downs the last couple of decades, I think I can speak for everyone who bleeds Johnnies' red when I say that our hope is a return to prominence.
