Was just watching him on first take and he took a pot shot at SJU(st John's doesn't count as college program), I can tell you from a personal experience when i met him around 10 years ago, I asked what he thought of SJU, ( they still play basketball) was not to happy with his response. Does anyone know if theres a history with the school?

Not sure but there is a history of our school being nationally irrelevant for over 20 years.

Not that I am a big Stephen A. Smith fan (he is entertaining and has come good takes, despite having won more playoff games since 2000 than America's Team, the Cowboys, the Jets haven't been much to write home about regardless of their 4-2 start this season and this is coming from a Jet fan and former season ticketholder (incidentally, Fireman Ed, did give up his season tickets a few years back and came to some games with friends although he might have them back again).

As for St. John's our national profile, do we really have one? Finally, there are a lot of New Yorkers who feel the same way about the program and only care when it is going good and unfortunately that hasn't been the case much this century.

I hope that changes starting with this year but I thought it was changing before and it wasn't sustained.
 
Screamin' A is a complete fool. He goes on TV says nonsense about stuff he knows little or nothing about. Unfortunately for Gen Xers like myself he has made ESPN completely unwatchable because the Gen Zers love him.

But that fool has made a fortune just like Froot Loops. Now Russo is on ESPN getting another check screaming about stuff he could care less about.

I personally invite Mr. Smith to come to a game with me and watch the team. Have a seat next to me Screamin A!

I find the best way to watch him is with the sound muted. That way I can concentrate on his varied facial contortions; I find him quite amusing.:rolleyes:

Lol, he’s an example of everything wrong with sports journalism and a prime example of why I don’t bother with ESPN. I get why sports die hards like the types like him, Russo and the sorts but I just find the whole schtick to be a bit much, even if I may agree with them.

He's no longer a journalist. Journalist report news. Columnists write opinion pieces. Most of the talking heads on the sports networks are columnists. He's a clown columnist. A title I reserve for guys like him, Skip/Shannon, Cowherd, Irvin, etc... I tend to prefer comedy columnist types like the Greaney and the guys he rolls out on Get Up. Great thing about being a columnist is there is very little accountability as long as you stay away from libel and slander.
 
We might get some positive press on Jalen and Jacoby if we tell Jalen Rose that Smith hates us.

Aside from that, how does a guy who went to Thomas A. Edison H.S. hate us?

Ron Naclerio posted a boxscore from a Cardozo/Edison game where I believe the esteemed SAS scored the same number of points I did in thta game.
