Stats thru 9 games

http://www.redstormsports.com/sports/m-baskbl/stats/2013-2014/teamcume.html

Sanchez has attempted 8 free throws.
That's less than even Gift.

And ironically he missed his only one last game :)

Harrison having one more rebound then Pointer surprises me except for the fact he has played more minutes. Similar to Sampson having more boards then Obekpa and Sanchez.

CO has pretty impressive numbers. 24 mins a game, shooting 51% from field, 6 boards and 5 blocks per game.

Harrison at 38% is just not gonna get it done and is probably as big a reason as any as to why we frequently dig ourselves early holes. He seems to take a good 10 to 15 minutes to get his stroke going but comes right out of the locker room clanking away.

He tends to start games chucking 3 pointers.

When we get down in the 2nd half, he starts to make his way into the lane and drawing fouls.

He needs to start games that way.

4.4 pts per game is not impressive!

??????????

I did not even look at the stats, but I think he is referring to Obekpa. Because he has been saying Obekpa has been not good this year but what rcatalano does not understand is not everybody has to be an offensive threat to help the team.

Harrison needs to start.....on the bench! In looking at the last 9 games, he is the main reason we fall behind early. He is basically a second half player. Phil Greene is a more natural 2 and has better form than Harrison. As long as the ball handling is done by Jordan or Branch, Greene would do better at the start of games.
If Sanchez does not become more aggressive on offense he may be coming off the bench replacing Pointer. None of us ever figured that scenario and I am sure Lavin and company are bewildered also.
Wake up Primo or no NBA for you amigo!!!!

It's early, and we haven't played any true road games yet; but I'm encouraged by the fact our 3pt shooting is up to 30% and we're shooting 70% from the foul line.
Last season we were 27% and 64%. Although 30% still leaves us last in the BE.

What needs improvement: the little things. We've mostly played slower and less athletic teams, yet we only are +2 in rebounding margin and are just an average team in terms of steals (approx 6 per game)

Those can get better.

Desco80,
Our three point %s are skewed because of Hooper's and Marco's %s!!!!
Take Max's .39% and Marco's .75% out and we are actually shooting .26% with the players getting all the minutes minus Max and Marco's cameo appearances.
WE SUCK as a 3 point shooting team!
Now, take the #2 team in America with a Hall of Fame coach, Cuse has taken only 162 threes compared to our 140 yet they shoot .35%. They shoot GOOD threes and not prayers like Harrison et al.
At .26% we either have to play Max or Marco more or shoot less threes. Plain and simple!

Have at it;

@StJohnsBBall: With one 3-pointer vs. Cuse, D'Angelo Harrison now has 149 for his career. Second all-time, two away from tying the all-time #SJUBB lead.

@StJohnsBBall: With 47 blocks on the season, @Obekpa12 is now in second-place all-time for #SJUBB with 180 in his career. He is 8 away from the lead.

Just so we're clear, if you take away Syracuse's two most prolific 3 pt shooters, Ennis and Cooney, the rest of the team is shooting 22% from 3. Just saying.

LOL! Not clear at all......not even close!
I recommend a book to you my redmen friend: How to Lie with Statistics by Darrel Huff.

You see Aussie, OUR two most prolific 3 pt shooters are bench warmers. They rarely come off the bench. They are the 9th or 10th options on offense. The two Orange players you used to try and make some logic out of an illogical assumption are starters and are two of the three top scoring options in Boeheim's offense and log mucho minutes. Therefore, their stats carry considerable weight.

Tell you what, remove Patterson (2-11) and Johnson (1-12) from the Orange 3 pt stats and tell us what the team shoots.
They are the 9th and 10th players in minutes played.
Just saying. B)

Agree, I was trying to point out that stats can be deceiving. Guess that wasn't clear. Generally I agree with your point entirely, just not that it makes a difference if Hooper or Bourgault are included.
