The starting 5 of right now, I'm guessing

Jordan-pg
Johnson/Ellison sg/sf
Williams pf
Obekpa C

Ellison and Johnson are both 6-6, I guess a 6-6 anyone could play SF
I'm hoping to see Amar or Sima take the PF spot and slide Willams to the SF spot, yeah I know he's 6-8, but damn that would be a huge front court.
Durand or Johnson at 6-6 as the starting SG, and how tall is Jordan?

If the staff lands Mussini he'll be in the mix with the five guys you listed as starters.

Don't think Sima or Alibegovic get starts unless someone is injured or their parents come to visit.

If We get Mussini then Jordan goes to SG, that's a nice back court right there.
Guessing Johnson over Ellison at SF since Durand has a little experience in coll.

Ellison, Sima, and Amar off the bench. I'll take those 8, then you add Papa or Lovett and we're set to war with anyone.
Mullin and staff lets get atleast 2 of that 3.

I don't get the Amar love feast, but maybe I'm the one who's missing something.

I agree. The Missouri State kid will see more playing time than Amar unless Sima is not around and we need size or Amar dramatically improves his shooting.

What's so good about that kid, his #s there wasn't impressive at all. Maybe he goes off from 3, but if he don't then what are we getting from him?
Anyway who said i'm in love with him? All I said was I hope Amar or Sima takes the PF spot and Williams can slide to the SF position. Never knew by saying that, that makes me in love with Amar.

Lets wait till Chris has some time with them in the gym. My guess is we see some improvement of various players and your opinions are going to change on who should be starting.

That was a generalization Oldschool. Lots of people on here feel that Amar is ready to be a major contributor next year, this in spite of the fact that he went virtually unrecruited and contributed very little last year to a team in desperate need of both size and outside shooting. Maybe he develops in to a serviceable bench player over the next three years, but IMO that's the most we should be expecting from him.

My prediction is that Jordan listed as 6'4 is taller than Ellison who's listed at 6'6. Good news is no matter what their actual heights are, they are both plenty big for college guards.

Jordan, Johnson, Williams and Obekpa are all starting. The 5th is still TBD.

He played in a freelance system that disregarded the post and with kids that have been playing together for years. He was never incorporated into the offense--no player off the bench was besides Branch.

A pretty strong minority of posters only care about the best players on the roster, but guys like AA are huge for a team come. The reason why I like him so much is because he plays hard and is physical. In a perfect world, he backs up the four and provides some depth at the five for four years, while giving us a physical presence, rebounder, and floor-spacer. I'd be surprised if he didn't make a big jump this season. That jump won't be enough to get him a starting job, but a combined 12 mpg at the four and five would go a long way for us next year.

AA averaged 8.4 MPG last year, so a jump to 12 MPG seems like a reasonable expectation. Have said all along that he could develop in to a serviceable 4 year bench player, but that's a far cry from what some posters are projecting for the kid.

Absolutely agree. Considering the information we have right now, this is all we can assume.

i' m thinking Ron Mvouika starts at shooting guard, experience and supposedly a decent shooter. And I expect he will become a better shooter once Mullin gets his hands on him.

As the roster stands now, those four are clear starters and the better defender out of Mvouika and Ellison will start at the fifth spot. I really don't know what to expect from Mvouika, but it would see like a tall task for a freshman to beat a fifth-year senior with a better shot . Mvouika dominated (at least statistically) the same high school level that Ellison is played at this past season to the tune of 25 ppg, and then played two years of JUCO and two years of D-1 ball.

Yeah I think the 5th starter will be Mvouika, Ellison or someone who is not yet on the roster (Lovett, Mussini, Papa, another transfer, etc).

All things considered, he had as good of a freshman year as you would expect from a non-top-25 freshman 6'9 235 big man from another country. I thought Lavin could have used him better against more physical pfs like Delgado (looked good in the brief time they matched up).

Not sure what to expect from a non top 25 big man from another country. He showed some promise but has a long way to go IMO to be a significant contributor. Very slow feet.

I'm hoping we pick up another piece so that Mvouika doesn't start, but not because I don't like Mvouika, just because it would mean we're in a place where we're a deeper team.

I have to admit that when we picked up Mvouika I was pretty indifferent because it was a guy I hadn't heard of from a mid-major conference. But the way they've been putting this team together I like the move more and more. This is going to be a team that's starting off with no chemistry or identity. Why wouldn't we want a 5th year guy who's played everywhere and can knock down a shot? Like I said, I hope we're not in a place where he's getting the majority of the SG minutes but I'd be thrilled if this guy could be a consistent contributor off the bench and a leader.
