I cannot help but think how blessed St Johns has been to have had 2 iconic men in their history who exemplifed impeccable character, kindness, and a profound knowledge and success of the game of college basketball than Joe Lapchick and Lou Carnesseca! There are not many programs who can match that today! Wow what a history!

I still scratch my head whenever I read that Bobby's Knight idolized Joe Lapchick. I cannot think of two different men.
Lapchick was the consummate professional, mild-mannered, gracious, sophisticated, well-dressed, well-liked, down-to-earth, egoless leader.
It rubbed off on Lou.
