 Big East classics on SNY.

Our young guys should tune in and see that team play. That was a special group because of the way they shared the ball. We were undersized like we are now and didnt have great depth but everyone could score and pass. The unselfishness was a huge reason why we were successful.

I just noticed that game was on SNY, as I was channel surfing. I loved that team. I, actually loved that team more than any, other team since I became a St. John's fan back in 1984. By the way, the '98-'99 team also blew a couple of early season games at the Garden (ala this current bunch) in the Preseason NIT (versus Stanford and Purdue).

Those guys were very unselfish and was the best passing team that I've ever witnessed at St. John's. They were tough as nails and could rebound like the dickens. They also had some experience on that particular team, as well.

You're right.... Although, talented.... The key was the unselfishness of that group.

Just watched a little bit of that game as well, I barely remember it, but I remember the Artest days over all. I remember crying as a little kid back to back years with the loses to Ohio State and Gonzaga. I really do like our current team, sorry if my posts come off as irrational (I shouldn't post until after games). I get very into it, and I am extremely competitive. With that said, I think the undersized thing needs to go out the window. Villanova was a top 10 team with 4 guards. At the college level, if you can have 5 guys out there who are athletic, play smart, play as a team, and can score, you can win against anyone. Especially if we get Garrett, who will provide depth, more athleticism, and some more size, this team will be a very good team. Add Wood next year who can hopefully shoot, and I think you have something special with or without the other guys. Adding Gathers though and I think its a top 10 team.

I got a question for people who might know more than me. I am curious on what people think of Harrison's shot. He makes the mid range jumper very smoothly, shoots FTs well, and his 3 balls are perfect when they go in, but some of his 3s are terrible, does anyone see anything with it? I think maybe he just needs more time and confidence. I also think Harkless has a great stroke, and he will be able to shoot the 3 ball well eventually. Greene also seems to be confident to shoot.

That was the 1st St. Johns team I ever remember, I was like 7 at the time shooting around trying to be like Barkely & Artest, definitely good times

I sat behind our bench that game and it still stings! Barkley had a terrible game and like Nurideen could not hit an outside shot. Ty Grant was on the bench injured or we could have easily won with that chump white hope Voskel playing center for Uconn. Ernie Lorch was in his usual seat right behind Jarvis.

Speaking of Barkley he was at the Arizona game the other night. Walked out of the building with him.
