St. John's to Host Racial Justice Conversations / SJU Alumni

This post is neither religion, nor politics, so it is posted with that in mind.

They often say that the 60's happened in the 70s, and much of that is true.

I went to a racially diverse public high school in the 70s, and I'm glad that I did. While racial tensions were still very high, there were no incidents of racial discord at all at my school. Some very smart teachers moderated frank discussions about race among students. Most topics were in bounds, and kids of all races emerged with a better understanding. All of us came to better understand the fears, experiences, and common ground between people that looked very different, were very much the same.

I would hope these sessions allow for the same sort of dialogue.
