St. John's strikes deal with ESPN3

A complete 180 from the days Cuse, Pitt, etc. left the conference and everyone thought we'd become a mid major huh? Now we are on the verge of doubling our money with Fox Sports Network, gaining stability for the future, maintaining rivalries, and landing in a basketball only conference as one of the leaders. And now this! Very exciting times.

Every $ helps but these are not big $. Some of the production quality is lacking.
Hopefully they hire the Maven as a consultant as he produced some great shows for us back in the day.

True. The Maven's work was first-class.

Sammy is a first class guy with that rough Brooklyn edge! It is what I appreciated most about him.

Sounds like ESPN is going to be out with the Basketball 7 so this is their way of staying involved, kind of back door style. Shrewd on their part.

I'm also into our soccer, lacrosse, women's Bball and a few other sports - so it's not really "Basketball only"

Besides some animosity for the Pittsburgs, Syracuses etc I am particularly pleased that Notre Dame is gone. They took advantage (or rather the Big East let them) of the benefits of all sports while allowing them to keep their own independent football pie. Don't understand why the ACC is also catering to them.

In the long run I think this conference will be terrific - and I hope we keep the name Big East.

all the best

What the BE and ACC president's realize, and you don't, is that the UND brand is far bigger than any of those who are trying to be associated with it in either the BE or ACC. To say that UND used anybody is naive. These conference are using UND to gain traction from their high profile and luxury brand by association.
